Every player can use rest this time of year. Springer is in the midst of a 6-42 (or something like that) slump and 3 of those hits came in the same game. Nothing wrong with pulling him. Doesn’t Hinch deserve the benefit of the doubt? Hasn’t he earned that yet?
Did JV help or hurt his chance at cy young award tonight? Adds a win and gets to 300k but the ERA gap just got bigger between he and Cole
Hurt 300 dosen't mean as much when your competition has more and a lower ERA. He got the W (guaranteed league leader), so that helps.
I think he's still going to win it over Cole. If you look at traditional and advanced stats, they both flip flop between first and second in pretty much all of them. If Cole had started the season better, he'd be a lock, but that's a thing that happened, and when JV is your opponent, you don't have that margin for error. I think just the way votes were trending, JV's no-hitter, 300 Ks, and maybe a bit of seniority bias is going to push it in JV's favor. Unless Cole does something really crazy tomorrow, which is...possible. It's just unfortunate they can't straight up make a co-CYA exception, because neither choice is wrong, yet one of them not winning is not right. How about Cole wins WS MVP to balance it out? If Alex will let him...
I think JV's three 2nd place finishes will be the deciding factor. If he had won last season, Cole would win this year. Co-Cy's is worthy moreso than Randy-Shilling's 300K season as their ERA was .50 difference.
Not sure who I'm pandering to, but if you've been paying attention Hinch is managing this week exactly like he said he would. He wasn't planning on Springer playing 5 innings last night so he got him out early. No big deal. Yeah, I met you once at Behad's circa 2003 when you showed up after a bunch of us got together to play basketball. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but that's a pretty bizarre attempted dig.
We've both potential Cy Young winners. Depending on how Cole answers Verlander's performance, could dictate who wins it.
It was a game where the astros were struggling to just score a run. And Springer was not exactly having a good night at the plate. It was not a stupid move.
Get ready for the playoffs... I avoid this place (partly because I plan on being at most of the games, but also because its too insufferable during the bad parts of the game itself).
The GARMites who only show up for the post season get a mulligan or 2, then it's off to the ignore list. They can be pretty fun to **** with, as well.
We need a postseason cheat sheet for the new ones... Stupid Hinch Carlos Delgado Dave/Sean Bergman Keep Kemp over Altuve Bench Springer . . . .
Most if not all of the regular starters should be pulled by the end of the 5th. Give Cole some run support and call it a day.
