I'm utterly indifferent to Rondon for Harris, don't want either guy pitching meaningful innings right now. Would have preffered Peacock, at least he can eat some innings I really would have preferred Straw to gattis. Gattis just has such little value to us right now. White is a better DH, I trust Kemp more in an important pinch hitting assignment (regardless of handedness), and Gattis provides nothing defensively save for emergency catcher. It's like playing with 24 players to me. Don't like it at all, although I'm not surprised by it. edit-I should add that although I don't agree with the move from an on field perspective, I do understand why they may have done it.
We are on the same page. Told some friends I wanted Peacock and Straw. Just gotta hope if guys get their chance they produce.
I like these moves. If we had room, I'd love to keep Straw, but I'm excited nonetheless. This roster is the best in baseball. Time to prove it.
Yea I think Gattis might mean more to the "clubhouse" than most people realize. I know the actual baseball part is much more important, but I bet they are a bit worried about morale issues if they took Gattis out
Wholeheartedly agree! I want Straw back for the WS roster. Straw's speed is invaluable, and contrary to what we think, Kemp is not really as fast as he's perceived. He's not slow, but he's no Jake/Straw/Fisher. Pretty sad that the game is moving more away from speed, at least that's what it seems. Edit: Yeah, I guess Jake gets the running role in addition to being a defensive sub (as long as he's not PR'ing for the DH). And Gattis, ugh if Gurriel's would-be home run in Game 7 wasn't robbed, Gattis's homer off Sabathia would be kind of burried. That is what totally saved him from a non-tender.
Am I to understand you to say that had Gattis not hit a home run in game 7 against the Yankees, the Astros would not have offered him a contract for 2018?
Cold weather usually helps the pitchers. Two elite pitchers going game one. Astros need to score first and work Sale’s pitch count. If it comes down to Red Sox’s relief pitchers vs ours....I like the Astros chances. If sale goes 8 and hands it to Kimbrel, Astros might be in trouble.
I went during the Indians game. Cool experience but the 12.00 beers kill me when watching it on a screen.
