We don’t need tackles on the offensive line, that’s silly, we need tacklers only on defense. Also, let’s not worry about guards, let’s just sign a bunch of forwards.
They sucked, though! They weren't good enough last year! Yes, the turd sandwich is better than a glass sandwich, but do you want either? They got rid of their best offensive lineman for a 5th round pick in order to save $4 million in capspace and eat $20 million in capspace! You are content with this? Jesus Christ. Keeping Howard and letting him walk doesn't preclude the team from drafting his replacement. That's sensible. Nick thinks he is getting over on the league when he churns and churns and still makes no real progress on building an offense. Anything that happens with the defense I would credit to Demeco's evaluations and coaching.
the way CJ gave the ball away, I bet they now run extensive tackle drills on OL side of the ball. That could be part of our new strategy. Put more DL on the OL, so when a TO we can limit the damage. There will be no pick-sixes if our starting "TE" is Al Shaair and our starting "slot" is Lassiter. This might could just work!
You might want to look at how many QB's have won SB's running a version of the EP/Coryell system. I mean this yr the Pats made the SB with a 2 yr QB running the EP system.
So if they were garbage still paying players like Tunsil and Howard, what do you think the problem is? They weren’t good enough because they were a brand new unit playing together for like the third or fourth straight season. Some are talking like we need 4 new starters on the line like that’s even realistic possibility. You can’t put an entire new line out every season and expect them to be serviceable. I’m not saying no moves need to be made but I think some are underestimating the addition of just 2 good starters. Going out to get the best LG we can in FA or via trade and grabbing a tackle or center with our first pick is ideal. While they have been suspect with OL in the draft you can’t just stop drafting because yours don’t hit. The way it’s looking, nobody may want to play here anyway so we might have to draft 2 OL high unless there is another Ingram like deal from last year available. The staff has also yet to prove they can turn high dollar players into production either so that may be for the best. Regardless, a good offensive line is not built overnight.
