    ROCKETS NOTES
    Yao takes trip to China

Seeking a break in his rehabilitation routine, Rockets center Yao Ming is visiting China this week with plans to return to Houston in time for the playoffs.

"He's done a stretch of his rehab," John Huizinga, Yao's NBA agent, said. "He has a long stretch of rehab coming up. This is a window of time. It's an opportunity to take a break and get a change of scenery. He wants to be back to be with his Rockets teammates once he is off his crutches for the playoffs, and when that happens he will step up treatment too."

Yao also planned to visit with teammates on the Chinese national team and coach Jonas Kazlauskas. He said Thursday that he will also look into traditional Chinese treatments while in China.

Yao underwent surgery March 3 to repair the stress fracture in the tarsal naviclar bone in his left foot.

"No one should interpret that as any dissatisfaction with the quality care he is getting in the U.S.," Huizinga said. "That's not it at all."

    Sadness in Seattle
To Rockets coach Rick Adelman, the season's last trip to Seattle brought an unhappy reminder that this could be the last season for the Sonics in Seattle.
The NBA relocation committee is scheduled this month to consider the sub-committee's recommendation that the Sonics be permitted to move to Oklahoma City. A court case will determine if they can move next season or if they must honor the last two years of their lease.

"I can't imagine not coming back to Seattle and playing," Adelman said. "I always felt it was a great place, had great fans, was a hard place to play. I don't know the inner workings, but the first time they redid this building (in 1994, returning for the 1995-96 season), I thought it was a great building. It's just a shame.

"The fans were so supportive. It's hard to figure out how this all went south so quickly and that they won't have a team."

    Ready for the zone
With Rafer Alston out for a second consecutive game because of a strained hamstring, Bobby Jackson started for a second consecutive game with rookie Aaron Brooks coming off the bench in his hometown. But Rick Adelman said he expects to use Tracy McGrady more bringing the ball up and to see more zone defenses down the stretch.
"We kind of saw what they did (Thursday) night," Adelman said. "We'll probably see more of it as far as doubling Tracy and zoning up and trying to take the ball out of his hands. Fortunately, we had some really good production off the bench."

Though strong perimeter shooting is generally the best way to beat a zone, Adelman said the Rockets should be able to get good shots.

"If we move people and cut people through and our big guys are active, we're going to be OK," Adelman said. "When you run a zone, it usually comes down to if you attack the middle and make shots. Tracy, he's a handful if you try to play a zone because a lot of times he'll end up with a smaller guy on him, too. I don't think a zone should hurt us unless we're missing a lot of shots."

I know, I know, that's why I read it again, and replied to myself.

I found it highly unlikely myself.

That would be a big boast to the team to see big yao sitting on the side lines cheering on the team.

Houston has a ton of Chinese. You telling me not one Chinese doctor has some traditional medicine somewhere in Chinatown?

Agreed. There's gotta be some place in Alief off Beechnut or Bellaire that can do it for him.

The US has a ton of Chinese restaurants too, but rarely you find authentic Chinese food, let alone the best of it.

You don't just pick up random herbs and use them, just like you don't take over-the-counter for a bone fracture. There are specialists in China, so thats where he needs to be. You guys act like he should be rehabbing 24/7. Forget sleep and friends, if he works on rehab all day he should be ready for the playoffs right?

My guess is the CNT wants to have their own doctors examine if Yao's injury is as serious as some US media claimed which would prevent him from playing in Olympic.

Yeah I am sure Master Chan whose 100 sq feet clinic at the basement of the Grand Dragon Restaurant and next to the Good Fortune Fish Market on Bellaire can give Yao the same treatment. :D

Seriously, I know you were just probably trying to be funny. But still..what you said is along the line of...

I remember Yao once went to California for a second opinion on his injury before. Why would he want to do that? You telling me there was not a doctor anywhere else can give him a second opinion? AHhhhhhh...perhaps the simple reason is that the doctor in California is good...?

He holds Chinese passport, that means he can go to China any time he wants.

Sometimes I wonder if any other player would get away with this.
If Spanoulis for example flew back to Greece, I think we would have said 'See Ya!'
