Google Gamesharing and the Playstation Store will look much more attractive. I honestly find nothing wrong with PS3's online. Not paying for it is huge, and I haven't experienced any problems playing Warhawk, NBA 2k9 and GTA IV online. AFAIK, SFIIHD was a very buggy release anyway so that might not be a reliable sample.
what I saw of KZ2 was very impressive. I'm sure it will please the shooter crowd. SFIV will sell big time. I can't believe the interest in SF now, its even more popular than before. you have multiple generations of gamers playing it. have you seen the RE5 trailer? its amazing. Capcom, that's the best freaking software company.
with the way people are losing jobs these days, the last thing on their mind is purchasing a $60 plus video game for them or their kids. I do like the WII in the sense you can download those old sega games and I def think in the future we should be able to download games on the system and not have to go to a gamestop as a middle man.
PC games and some console games allow for this, but I wish they were more aggressive on pricing (especially PS3 games). I would think that a $60 game could sell for $30-$40 through digital distribution and still earn the publisher as much, if not more, money (thanks to cutting out retailers). But it seems like most games like this on Steam, PSN, etc., are pretty much priced the same at retail or online (at least from what I can tell). I guess this is to keep retailers happy, but it would be nice if they could be more aggressive. Although I will say that Steam does have some really nice deals from time to time.
The PS3 allows you to download PS1 games as well, and the PSP offers some full titles for download online. The problem with downloading games is that as games become more graphically intense, their sizes are going to get larger and it'll be impossible to download a 40GB game, especially when ISPs are putting bandwith limits on home users. For example, Sony released Siren: Blood Curse as a download exclusive which put me off as it'd take me weeks to download the 9 GBs that it took. A game like Littlebigplanet or MGS4 take up as much as 50GB, a full dual-layer Blu Ray.
played with a guy last night who has both version of SF2HD on xbox/ps3. said lag is very noticeable on PS3 than on xbox live on that game. he did say there were some good players on PS3, but xboxlive is more stable for that game. hadoken!
Are these people playing the same opponents on both PS3 and 360? Not really a good test if they're playing against different people with different connections. I paid no attention to gamer feedback during the release, but I skimmed some professional and user reviews at various places and didn't notice any big mention about lag, particularly on the PS3 version (I think IGN tried several tests on both systems and didn't notice any differences). Most reviews actually praised the lack of lag on both systems.
the dude is hardcore sf player. he has every version of the game from the SNES version and on. he's credible. doc rocket of street fighter. (i notice some complaints on the ps boards about it) http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...hread.id=124047&view=by_date_ascending&page=1 he's on the west coast too, a higher population of sf players. he's on ethernet too. I'm also on ethernet.
no doubt that is true.. I have the same exact opinion.. PS3 folks are a lot better than on xbox. Also when it comes up to match play the xbox tends to do a whole lot more tournaments than ps3. on the PS3 you have an easier time getting into ranked matches and just friendly play. One of the most annoying things about the ps3 is that everytime your finished with a ranked match there is a process called leaving lobby. Takes up to 3 or 4 seconds but man which they can remove that.
I don't doubt his word. I'm just saying that if he plays person B on PS3 and person C on 360, then experiencing lag against person B and not person C could be due to the connection person B has (or other issues like that). Ideally, he and another person (or persons) would play both versions against each other, using similar connections for both systems. Which is what IGN (and possibly others) did I assume. I don't doubt that the game had some issues (likely on both platforms) on launch day though. That is pretty normal AFAIK, especially with something like SF.
I play on player match. the PS3 players being greater than the Xbox players is sort of misleading. the PS3 DOES have a better overall controller for street fighter, plus their fighting sticks are easily purchased . you have to dig deep to find the stupid Hori Stick (that's what I have). Also I heard you can get a ps2/ps3 control adapter. I still have a ps2 compatible Arcade stick that's 10 times better than the Hori Stick that I use. They are releasing the new arcade sticks (mad catz) with Sf4 comes out on both systems. Then you can really see how good the players are. and don't believe people who say that pad players > stick players, its automatic vs 6-speed.
i believe they can probably or are working on a patch to fix that problem. since this is the first SF game on the PS3 network. SF has been on xboxlive since the SF2 Anniversary edition, so Capcom knows alot about their network.
True. Plus, they did a beta test on the 360, so they were able to work out some bugs there I imagine. Ideally, some of those bugs were issues on both systems, but it is likely that Capcom couldn't run major tests on the PS3 version, and thus, if any problems arose, they'd require a post-launch patch.
stop playing ranked match, play player match and customize it for 4 players instead of 6. its more fun, i use to care about rank in the sf2anniversary days, but i careless about it. player match is more of that arcade feel, i'd rather have people witness me win and my skillz than some dumb ranking.
