Amazing how there are posters in here who despised Westbrick but are now defending KPJ any chance they get. Why the complete 180? Did you guys just stop watching the games bc of how trash the Rockets are now and just check out the box score stats every once in a while? There is no way in hell you can be actually watching KPJ play live and think he's doing a great job in his role, except as a tank commander. If you guys really think ppl are hating on KPJ only because he gets in the way of players like Jalen Alpi and Jabari, you have no idea. That's just a minor part of a much bigger issue.
Well. There's a wrong way to defend KPJ's pathetic turnovers. And then there's a real wrong way to defend KPJ's pathetic turnovers.
There are several reasons why putting Westbrook next to Harden instead of Chris Paul was a problem. It's almost like overall efficiency is the most important thing. You don't say?
If KPJ created like Harden did, it wouldn’t be a problem. If you are curious Harden lead the league in points created 6 straight years. Only Jordan, Wilt and Robertson did it as many times.
Turnovers is a problem now and was a problem back then. If a player has high turnovers then he will be complained about. Harden however offered so much more than KPJ and the team as a whole was much better defensively. Pretty sure you just made this thread to troll people though.
KPJ is not a franchise piece. He puts up good numbers on a bad team. Just accept it. If you do, you'll apparently be one step ahead of the Rockets FO. He and Harden should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
Harden/Rockets have created this rage for SG's playing Point. Now every team is moving towards this movement. Movement against one player facilitating and getting 9-12 assists to everyone (entire team) being expected to dribble twice and pass. Team Ball Movement....where your main facilitator gets about 6-8 assists and many of the rest of the team get about 3-4 assists. Reason being: switch everything defense uses mobile, versatile big men and not so great passing guards that can contribute to rebounding and interior defense. So all of KPj, Green, J Christopher need to get better in anticipating pass, dribbling, using their off arm to protect the ball, dribbling at different heights. KPj gives you the rebounding, blocks, steals, tap backs......protecting the ball and keeping his dribble alive would improve his game. Driving all the way to the baseline and hitting cutters (forcing the defense to scramble). TyTy was listed as the 2nd best point guard coming out of college....Ivey was listed as #1 point guard.....neither are point guards. Both are shooting guards. Good luck hoping Scooter Henderson will be anything more than an over glamorized SG. Much like Fultz and Cade.
The problem with KPJ is that the Rockets are using him wrong in a lot of different ways. First he is out of position. Second he is miscast as a high usage player. Third he should be used off the bench. This stuff isn’t Porter’s fault.
What makes you think Harden wasn't getting bashed constantly, and I would argue, way worse than KPJ for his turnovers, especially in big games? Do a search on this forum and you'll find dozens of threads or posts about Harden's turnovers. It's one of the super threads in this forum that spans multiple threads and has many branches.
The issue with Westbrook was not his style of play and skillset alone. It was labeling him an all time great, centerpiece key to a title. And the ridiculous amount he's paid, compared to his flaws. Westbrook is considered "instant greatness anywhere". Porter gets benefit of being developmental.
Harden off the bench in OKC is 8x the playmaker as starter kpj… let’s stop putting them in the same sentence
After the Sengun Wood comparison, I can’t take OP seriously. I can’t decide which thread is worse. This or the Sengun thread. Idiot thread is idiot.
Regardless of how it relates to any other era, you cannot watch these games and think that the turnovers are not a problem. Any time you have a winning team, you can accept turnovers because they aren't costing you the game. On a losing team, you can often trace the losses back to stupid/careless turnovers.
Harden getting "bashed" for turnovers while he had us in the WCF/WCSF every year while leading the league in scoring and assists and getting MVP/runner up. KPj getting bashed for turnovers and getting owned by a Pelicans scrub while we have the worst record in the league is a little bit different.
I get what you're saying and agree for the most part. But Russ and KPJ are both low IQ, low efficiency players, and for some posters here to make such a huge concession in their basketball philosophy just to support KPJ is sort of mind-boggling. Sure, KPJ is still young and developing, but we have a large enough sample (nearly 2 seasons worth) of him being thrust into the PG role with terrible results. And it's not like KPJ is that much of a bargain come next season (decent deal but not worth $20M/yr with how he's playing right now). Also, I know this isn't you but some others have said that he's basically our only ball handler so that we have no choice but to have him at PG... honestly this is such a lazy and tired excuse when we have a certain player who is more than capable of facilitating the offense (Sengun) and multiple players who can just bring the ball up the court without having to run PG duty. KPJ has definitely shown more improvement and consistency in his 3 pt shot... why not just move him off ball and see what kind of player he can develop into on the wing? KPJ the PG is not only hindering the development of some of our most key players, but also KPJ himself. Just end this experiment already.
I know this is a joke thread, but a disinterested Harden post-trade demand/work stoppage mode after 6 hours in a strip club the night before is... .....still a better distributor than KPJ on his best day.
And you thought the sengun only fans are crazy. Takes a special type of stupid to compare harden to kpj in the playmaking/turnovers. Hell harden in his prime was leading the nba in points, maybe when kpj does that there will be less outrage for his shtty playmaking abilities.
