While I havent heard any negatives on the 2K3 Franchise mode, the Madden Franchise mode is the best. It goes for up to 30 years, you can follow player progression, draft players from NCAA 2003, etc.

After YEARS of playing Madden football I went out and bought NFL2k3. IMO, the game is awsome. I love it.

I'm not very impressed with EA NCAA 2003....a whole lot of the same, IMO.

    NFL 2k3 Franchise mode info:
    Scout Rookies
    NFL Combine
    Trade Draft picks
    Mock Drafts
    Rookie Rankings
Put players on the trading block to get offers from other teams
Negiotiate contracts extensions and sign free agents
Preseason can help your rookies improve

I'm sure there is a lot I'm leaving out, but the franchise mode is pretty damn deep in NFL 2k3.

People will all have there differences. I find it extremely hard to pick between Madden and 2k3. Madden has improved a lot over last year, but so has NFL 2k3. 2k3's franchise mode is a hell of a lot better than what I thought it would be. Computers counter your trade offers...scouting rookies..drafting etc...

Okay now that the network adapter is out, which do you think has better online play? My adapter is on backorder, so I won't be able to find out very soon. How many people have actually tried online play yet?

I rented both and played both for a bit. I always had played Madden and thought 2k3 wasn't that good. After playing them both and getting a feel for them, I like NFL 2K3 better. Something about Madden made me bored when I played it. But 2K3 really made me want to play. IMO, the franchise modes on both are abou the same. Madden was pretty cool with the mini-camp and create a play, but that wouldn't put it over the edge.

Man, EA Sports is losing it big time for me. Always went with Live and Madden, now I'm going for 2kwhateveryear. Strange.

If NFL2k3 is like Ncaa 2k3 I dont think I would like it very much. I just rented Ncaa 2k3 and was very dissapointed. I thought the game play was awful. i had all of 3 seconds to make my read and throw the ball before my qb would be sacked. Luckly I had a running back over 90 rating so he had 300 yards rushing on like 13 carries, very realistic imho. I just think Ncaa by ea sports is put together better. I dont know if there is a large diffrence between the Nfl game if there isnt I would have to go with madden all the way. Although the announcing in Ncaa 2003 is the best of any of the games.

Am I missing something on the Madden combine and rookie scouting, you don't know how many times I draft a guy rated 68 only to have the team behind draft another guy rated 86. What's the trick to getting the best available player?

I somehow was able to get the online adapter for PS2 on my first time, so I have been playing online for about a week. I'm something like 9-4. You really have to have broadband to enjoy it though.

I just bought Madden 2003 and played on rookie level, but that was too easy, so I moved up to pro level and created a new franchise league. The game isn't really realistic at pro level either, but I'm thinking All-Pro may be a bit too much. On pro level, I think I threw for about 600 yards and so did my opposition and I had Edgerin James running for about 270 yards. :D Ah well, it was better than in rookie mode where I think I had about 500 yards in the first quarter. :)
