As you can see below it looks like Houston and the Titans will most likely be in the same division (AFC South). I know that the Texans owner McNair is trying to sell the other NFL owners on having Houston placed in the AFC North with the likes of Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh. Can't say that I blame him. I like Option 4 myself. Now Option #5 would be a true SUPER DIVISION (AFC South: TITANS, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Jacksonville.) Doubt that will happen because it has to many top notch teams. Being that I live in South FL I would love it if they choose Option 7 for the Titans (AFC South: TITANS, Houston, Jacksonville, Miami.) I know that will never happen as Miami will stay in the same division with the likes of the Bills, Jets and Patriots.

I hope they finalize this at the May NFL owner's meeting.

NFL narrows realignment plans to 7

PALM DESERT, Calif. — The NFL continued to crawl toward realignment yesterday, narrowing the field of proposals. The final vote is expected at a meeting in Chicago at the end of May.

''We will get it done [in May],'' said Steelers owner Dan Rooney, long a realignment proponent. ''We could have probably finished it [yesterday], but the only problem remaining is what to do with the AFC North and the AFC South.''

NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said there are about ''a dozen'' proposals
remaining, but that all of them are built from seven. Tagliabue called the last two
    ''long shots.''

    The seven main proposals:

How in the hell could Houston possibly belong in the AFC North? I mean, that's the whole reason for the reallignment, isn't it? No more geographically blind division names, PLEASE! If they insist on naming them after directions on the compass, they need to adhere to it...period.

First, San Diego was one of the first AFL franchises so I doubt the Chargers will go to the NFC. My money is on Seattle.

Second, Jerry Jones is gonna be pissed if the Cowboys aren't in the NFC East. I would like to see divisions based on geography more than rivalry but I don't think its going to happen.

My money would be on Option 1. We have to start new rivalries. Maybe if we were still the Oilers, Bob McNair would have a legitimate gripe...we lost our history to the TITANS. We are an expansion team.

I don't want Houston to be in the AFC Central cause that would mean road games in cold weather. Of course all teams in the AFC Central play in brand new stadiums but still...

    Option 7 is my favorite.

Indy in going to be in the AFC South, more than likely. The alignments will never be 100% geographically correct. And the NFL doesn't necessarily want them to be.

I'm fine with all of them except option 6, the Pats vs. Fins rivalry is too good to break up.

I'm thinking no one outside of Miami or Boston care about that game.

I wish they would just start over and re-classify both conferences and division to capitalize more on geographic rivalries.

Our Panthers (and Atlanta and St. Louis) are in the NFC West competing with San Francisco and Arizona.

I think they should stand ready to re-shuffle every decade and be ready to re-mix the groupings to take advantage of current realities: relocations, new rivalries, and better balance.
