I'm rooting for Denver v Seattle, but based on what I saw last week I think it'll be NE v SF. Granted, my knowledge on how these teams have played over the last few weeks is limited (typically only watch Texans) so I'm probably way off base, but I guess I'm not getting my hopes up.
I'd love to see Peyton and his receiving crew try to take on the Seattle secondary. I'd also love to see the Patriots "rushing attack" try to break the 49ers amazing front 7. I'm guessing it's going to be Denver/SF.
Should be two amazing games. The AFC is the "battle of the offenses" and the NFC one is the "battle of the defenses".
Agree, or perhaps more like passing attacks for the AFC and running for the NFC. Pass attempts per game, team: http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/pass-attempts-per-game Denver: 2 (whoops; I typed 3 at first) N.E.: 8 San Francisco: 31 Seattle: 32 LOL!
Wow I never saw those stats. Frank Gore and Marshawn really shoulder a huge load. Gore was on my fantasy team this year and pleased me with his production.
Seattle's defense is legit but they need to fix their offense. For whatever reason it has sputtered. If they can't fix the offense San Fran is going to win.
I would really think the sputter is more that the NFL has figured out whatever little passing strategy they had. It must be something easy to gameplan and remove. They are so lucky they have an incredible running back, or they would be home by now. I actually think their guy is better than Gore, and I think the world of Gore as a player too.
I think I am rooting for a Broncos/ Seahawks SB. But It will be interesting with any of the possible combinations from these four elite teams.
Interesting stats, FWIW: http://statsontapp.com/2012/01/20/six-stats-you-might-not-know-about-nfl-conference-championship-games/ "1. The home team has won 55 and lost 27 in conference championship games (a .671 winning percentage). In the last five conference championship weekends, the home teams are 8-2. In the 41 seasons, there has been only twice where the home teams have both lost: 1992 and 1997." This suggests that Niners-Pats in the superbowl would be highly unlikely, based on history. But the 49ers are arguably the least injured and most complete football team going right now.
I'm feeling both road teams right now. As much as I despise the Pats (except for Brady), they deserve credit for getting this far after losing Gronk, Wilfork and Hernandez.
(not thread worthy, so I'm putting it here)... One of the good things about living in the San Francisco area is the ridiculous radio hosts Fernando and Greg who do a "Sassy Sports" segment and are generally pretty funny. In their typical way, instead of talking football they were insulting Harbaugh's fashion choices, and then Harbaugh's wife called in to pile on and make sure she didn't take any of the blame. http://blog.sfgate.com/49ers/2014/01/15/harbaughs-wife-he-wears-8-pants-from-walmart/ And twitter evidence emerged to support his wife's claims: $8 pleated khakis from Walmart. Spoiler
Wow, the Texas Tech WR connection through both games- Wes Welker for the Broncos Mike Crabtree for the 49ers Danny Amendola for the Patriots No idea about the Hawks
70% of Seahawks analysis is their fan base and home field advantage, while 70% of Broncos analysis is Peyton Manning's use of "Omaha"... ESPN making me LOL
That illegal pick by Edleman is what the Patriots offense has been doing all year... about time it gets called.
