New Dollar Coin, Why?

Here's a man who's been to Canada. There's a funny story about the Loonie. Originally the design for the coin was meant to show two courier du bois in a canoe, but the dies were either lost or stolen en route to the mint. The second choice was the Loon, which gave rise to the name Loonie. By the time the two dollar coin came out with a Polar Bear on it the name Loonie had become so popular that people started calling the two dollar coin a Toonie. Those names will probably be around as long as the coins are around, but if it wasn't for a lost set of dies neither would have been coined at all, if you'll pardon the pun.

 

Dollar coins, ugh, the next time I go to a strip club should be interesting.

 

The penny needs to go. As a person who lived in London, the Pound rocks.

We need a dollar coin, these days.

The rub is that they have to be circulating enough to justify coin vendors accepting them. it will eventually happen, and the sooner the better. But I sure as hell don't want to see Gov't subsidies for it.

Abolish the penny. Abolish the paper dollar. It makes sense.
