Not sure where all the hate comes from, to each their own though. I'm liking it through 6 episodes so far. I barely remember the books from 10 years ago, so maybe I'd be outraged if I recalled them better I'd give it a good 7/10 so far.
Just finished this. The style was like half video game half anime with all the better and worse aspects of it. Acting was noticably bad, especially with the one dimensional female characters who were living. Story reminded me of that terrible Valerian movie. Action hovered from chopped fu to ouch. The visual effects are inconsistent and feels experimental, but it has the potential to be great if it gets picked up more seasons. The universe has potential, but I think it's too dark for it to get the mainstream budget it needs. The scenes with the grandma was probably the most memorable. If you're starved for sci-fi, your pickings are slime...so if there's a second season, I'll watch. Spoiler It seems like the main character's skin is done. Interesting potential for an anthology.

I looked at his IMDB to see what he has been in outside of Marvel crap where I agree with you in that I dislike him. He has been in a ton of films so it is possible he has a range. He had a bit part in Adjustment Bureau where he was understated, he could possibly do noir. It might not suck is all I am saying.
I could actually see him in some noir but its his personality that gets me with him. Watch his interviews and hes all about himself.
If he acts the same way he does in Marvel movies it will be horrible. I have hope. The tone of this series is way to different.
Nudity ramps up towards the end of the season. I liked the premise of the show. It was entertaining. I was hoping it would be a good detective story but it didn't turn out that way.
I don't see anything wrong with Anthony Mackie. Wish the chick died though. She's super annoying but at least she gets naked.
I'll also add that the 4k Dolby Vision does make it much better to watch. Kind of like watching the Expanse in 4k after i watched it in HD already.
I forgot where the end of this series went. the main characters choices were disappointing. completely unrealistic to change like that. unearned character development doesn't make it strong enough. A complete betrayal of all motivations up till that point. Can't believe I forgot about that.
Kinda agree with the overall consensus. I just finished season 1. It went from murder mystery to rebel liberation fighters to love betrayal. It did too much within one season. It was worth the watch during a slow summer. Main actress is talented, though. I hope she returns.
I thought it was awesome and binged through it in no time. Anthony Mackie is my boy and I look forward to season 2.
