March 6, 2007 -- With their 117-99 victory over the Pacers on Wednesday, the Rockets broke the franchise for consecutive wins with their 16th straight.

Houston is now tied with six other teams for the 10th longest stretch in NBA history. The Rockets still have a way to go if they plan on breaking the record of 33 straight victories achieved by the Lakers in the 1971-72 season. The Suns and Mavericks each had 17-game winning streaks last season.

We could easily have the second best winning streak in NBA history. The keys is to win tonight and on saturday. I believe it will happen. GO ROX !

it's kind of hard to believe that in over 40 years of playing, with as many dominant teams as there have been, only 17 times has a team won 16 games or more in a row.

we all know tonight and saturday, then take care of business like we're supposed to, and #2 is ours!!

If Rockets get the longest winning streak that will be something, it is like the records that could never be broken!

Still pondering about the What If Yao did play against the Utah game. 21 win streaks would've been the second best of all time.

We won't get #1. That is impossible in this day and age and that team at one is one of the GREATEST teams of all time.

I love how we are playing.

Unselfishly. Sharing the rock. Tracy trusting his teammates and having confidence in them. Tracy taking it TO THE RACK and throwing it down like OLD Tmac. Everyone stepping up when they need to.

But we ain't them Lakers from 72.

The Rox benefited greatly from a fluke schedule that loaded up mostly easy teams for that span. Not taking anything away from them, mind you, but that's the reality. Regardless, it's still tough to win 16 in a row in the NBA because you're guaranteed to have a minimum of 5 or 6 road games in that span. On the other hand, they've been playing better an better as the streak got longer and never hit the canvas when Yao went down, so they certainly deserve whatever credit they're getting now.

And while I hear a bunch of media types talking about that soft schedule during 2008, I don't hear ANYBODY talking about how this team played a gruesome schedule in Nov/Dec while simultaneously breaking in a new staff and some new players and learning a completely new system -- yet STILL managed to play nearly .500 ball. We may have all been agonizing about why they weren't near the top of the division like we expected them to be, but in retrospect, that 15-16 record they had on January 1st represents a hell of an accomplishment.

Of course, since then we're 25-4 (.862) -- not too shabby either. :D

RA is the coach of the 91 Portland team, right? So only PJ has more winning streaks than him on the list as a active coach. And only one other coach has more winning streaks, the other RA. :p
