    I figured Thompson would take that over Harden. Harden getting shut out! Feels like the All NBA team from last year.

    Normal voting takes place before the playoffs but is presented in the 2nd round of the playoffs. The media would have been biased to vote against Westbrook as a low seed knowing his team wasn't good enough to be in the 2nd round, thus accept the award on the court. That's why all MVPs for the past 30+ years have been to players whose team finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their Conference.
