    Perhaps the coaches have been voting Kobe in the past 6 or 7 clearly undeserved years to keep him THINKING he's doing a good job.

    No Chuck Hayes?? He played very good D against the big men of the league.
    This award is just who is a flashy player and popular, not really who is the best in defense.

    Tony Allen was robbed...People like RV6 on this website would get offended when I mentioned him in the same breath as Shane Battier and acted like I was insulting Shane by doing so in the past. Maybe Allen can teach the "no-stats all-star" about D and O, but, you know what they say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

    I wonder how many years will have to pass after Kobe's retirement for him to stop being on the first All-Defensive team... and will he then be on the second team for a decade or just disappear from them altogether... hmm...

    NBA All-Defensive teams are worse than the nominees for Golden Glove Awards. At least, the Golden Glove winners, do base everything in most cases on defensive performances. A player can be one of the most mediocre hitters in the league, yet be unquestioned as a premier defense player and win the awards for it.

    NBA All Defense team used to be strictly for the best defensive players, and also why does it matter how good a player is offensively. When it is a defensive accolade has always been judged as such. Players, like Tony Allen; Shane Battier; Bruce Bowen; Chuck Hayes; and Andre Igoudala should all have at least 2-3 First Teams in a credible league.

    It doesn't matter who is voting, especially when they aren't getting it right.
