But these myths being spewed by local "experts" and fans are out of control. Myth # 1. You can't win a superbowl in this Tecmo bowl era without an elite QB. "swaub" isn't elite so we're screwed! oh noes! Myth Debunked. reason: Kubiak in 2009 brought the tecmo bowl back by having one of the worst running games in the league and having to pass it 593 freaking times. In 2010, they added a ground attack to the aerial assault and it led to the no. 3 offense in Yards. I think that the 'experts' are so busy jerking to their fantasy leagues that they forget it's a team game that revolves around offense, defense, special teams and some luck. Had it not been for special teams, Flacco and Smith would have been battle fighting for the trophy. Think of the offense as a unit, like kubiak envisions it and not as individuals fighting for dominance in a fantasy squad. When you have two of the top 15 running backs in the league, why would you want to pass it 593 freaking times again? :mindblown: Myth #2 My favorite myth. But "Swabz" doesn't like being pressured! Debunked! reason: No quarterback elite or 3rd string can throw a pass on his back. Ask the male model or Aaron rodgers how they enjoy a front seven that puts them in the missionary position. Big ben looks like he got out of the shower small when a front seven breaks through his frontline. Myth # 3. Spencer Tillman wears too much make up! Confirmed. Submit a myth about the texans and confirm/debunk it. =)
Myth: The cap casualties the Texans endured this off-season will hurt them tremendously in the run game. Fact: We had the same offensive line in 2009 (30th in the NFL in rushing) that we did in 2010 (7th in the NFL in rushing). We did not make a significant jump in rushing all because of our offensive line. The main change from 2009 to 2010 was a man (you've probably heard of him) Mr.Arian Foster.
Myth: Ben Tate is a top 15 back in the league Debunked... no he is not. Other than that, it was a decent read.
I'm not ready to declare the OL problem-free just yet. And yes, Arian Foster is absolutely a difference-maker. But don't forget: Steve Slaton rushed for 1,200 yards behind Brown, Myers, Briesel and Winston in 2008. The *system* is the key component and the main reason to be optimistic that, even with all the changing parts, the whole will remain effective.
Myth: The Texans only made the playoffs last year because of their weak schedule. Fact: Pretty much every team that has ever made the playoffs has done so by beating a bunch of teams that didn't.
This statement contains the true beauty in the NFL; the fact that a schedule isn't weak until the season is over with due to the dispersed talent is pure beauty. But also in the NFL the best teams make the playoffs regardless of schedule. And the worst teams miss the playoffs regardless of schedule. True there are team's who's record can be affected favorably by a "weak schedule", but at the end of the day a true Super Bowl contender won't miss the playoffs because of a "tough schedule". (From 2011):
I have this under inconclusive. If you look at total rushing yards, he was already at 19th as a backup. Per carry stats, he was easily in the top 15. He was not a good receiver or goal line back last season. I think he would be top 15 if he started, but sometimes RBs just can't handle the additional carries.
I applied your reasoning seeing that he was 19th in yards and tied for 4th with his 5.4 average, the 15th slot seemed fair but inconclusive it is. He still needs to improve in picking up the blitz, almost got the qb murdered a couple of times saturday. Myth #7. We only acquire choir boys. debunked. Looks can be deceiving. Braman- self taught chemistry professor Brian cushing- nutritional enthusiast Antonio smith-trained assassin Schaub- teammates call him crazy eight for a reason.
I would add Posey to the list. While I don't think the Texans are all choir boys, for the most part they have not been knuckleheads to the magnitude of a Plaxico or Owens.
