Actually I saw a recent study ( in print) that found that a study of those folks who were admitted to Ivy League schools and didn't go for whatever reason, finances, desire to stay home etc. did just as well as those who went. If you are smart and work that hard, good things will happen. The elite schools probably get too much credit for the success of the students who happen to attend there.
I once had one coworker who molested an 8-year old boy and another that put 19 bullets into his wife. Strangely enough, they were pretty cool coworkers. Then I had this one guy working with me who graduated 2nd in his class at UT law. Contrarily, he was a complete moron. School doesn't make the person. Their track record doesn't either. The person makes the person.

I have always suspected that the auto repair/maintenance industry has a lot of ex-cons working at it. I imagine they learn the trade in prison and then upon parole, take jobs in that area. I would also guess that moving companies employ a lot of ex cons.
The guys that moved us from Austin to Houston were all in hard core juvy jails. They said that the mistakes they made as kids would follow them the rest of their lives. They know they messed up and not one of them had an attitude like they got screwed or anything like that. The guy that was the foreman said that he hires young ex-cons because they work hard as hell. He said a lot of times it is the only job they can get.
