Who is the leagues MVP this year? If you go by the adage "best player on the best team" then Lebron is the winner, but if one truly looks at how valuable a player is to his team then it still might be Lebron or possibly Kevin Durant and Carmelo. To me an MVP shows a commitment on both ends, so that weeds out Kevin Durant and opens up the field to Dwight, Dwyane, and of course Kobe.
Lebron. Durant is a close second. Cavs would be just as garbage as Thunders if both didn't have their MVPs, but Cavs are contenders while Thunders are most likely first round fodder with their MVPs.
LeBron and it's not even close. His team is #1 and he is having one of the best seasons we have ever seen. I wouldn't be suprised to see a blowout in the voting.
Durant is in second, no doubt, but I wouldn't say "close" second. The difference is LeBron's passing, court vision, and defense. He gets almost four times the assists per game that Durant gets. They're both prone to lapses in concentration on the defensive end, but LeBron puts in the effort more often and is better when he does.
I have little doubt that Lebron will win it, but I have a feeling that Kobe will finish an undeserving second.
Also, can the 15% who are stupid enough to vote for someone not named for Lebron and Durant explain themselves? Admittedly, I think voting for Durant is pretty dumb, but I will let it slide as he's clearly second. But Dwight? Kobe? Really?
There is a big difference between being less talented and being worse. There is something wrong with the Nets that goes beyond talent (e.g., mental and/or chemistry issues).
