I went through hell to make this **** happen and it's finally here. Please watch and let me know what you think. All feedback welcomed! Without further adieu... I present to my CF brethren.... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UsviFS0f_EY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Not shabby, but Y it no have a memorable chorus? You should do the pop hip hop doe, I think that'll hit more crowds.
Yeah but this clearly isn't meant for any clubs lol The story's based loosely on something that happened back in my senior year of high school. I wanted to really present it more or so as a short film rather music video. But thanks for line
Love the sound and tone, the song is way way ahead of the video in my amateur opinion.. The video just seems a little odd, the hangings and the purple blood thing, but I definitely like the song and a lot of the lyrics. The video seems like a cross between a Tarantino movie and one of the old DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince videos. Best of luck to you. Enjoy checking out your new stuff when you post. Actually, shooting the two guys doesn't have the noose imagery that you might be going for but I think it would make the J Brown guy come off as less of a weirdo killer guy. Anyway.
Haha Exactly! I always tried to sum it up to people as if Quentin Tarantino made a P.S.A. on race relations. We were going for a "70's grindhouse flick" in modern times. Shot it at the school I graduated from - Jersey Village HS I do have a few stories worth sharing here that I'll knock out later!
LOL @ no Mexicans... or... brown people. He was giving a critique. Criticism is what I will give you. Are you still doing inappropriate crap at JV? They're letting you? ^ See? Like that. Spoiler Good stuff. The beat loop can do without that one OFF-BEAT drum hit that throws off the rhythm and will confuse a lot of white people.
That was an odd story for a song but the video itself was really well done, as far as I can tell - but I don't really know anything about video editing. I agree with Swoly on that off-beat drum hit. It made me hurt inside like when I heard the sound in 126 Hours when James Franco had to cut through that one part in his arm. Unrelated - but was Jersey Village High School really anything like that? I always thought it was one of the better high schools around here.
There was at least one!! You just gotta look extra hard to find her! And yeah lol That extra kick gets past a few people but others it stands out like a 3D stereogram. It blends in a bit more over a good loud system though. It's nothing like that anymore. The gentleman that played the Teacher in the classroom is an AP there at JVHS and confirmed that for us.. We had our fair share of ghetto but there were also a bunch of kids trying to force the ghetto into JV. And only difference in J. Brown and what actually happened is instead of a Black/White 'race war' it was Black/Brown, instead of a park they were trying to meet in an empty lot behind the school and word actually did spill out to authorities so they had about ten cop cars surrounding each parking lot once school let out. The entire week leading up to that Friday, all Black kids wore plain white shirts and all Hispanics wore plain red to school. So that Friday, literally everyone Black/Brown wearing white/red was pulled out of class to take pictures of them and be placed on a 'watch list'. No one showed up to the designated lot except 3 morons who wound up surrounded by cops that would find several weapons of theirs including a bat with bard-frickin-wire. After that it all sorta subsided!
I liked it. Sent it to a friend of mine that graduated from JV. He said he thought it was cool too. Good job.
