I'd skew towards the bad reviews on this one. Fox has manhandled these movies and as superhero movies have matured and expectations have grown, they just don't hold up.

RT Ratings from worst to first:

    13. Dark Phoenix
    12. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
    11. X-Men: Apocalypse
    10. Once Upon A Deadpool
    9. X-Men: The Last Stand
    8. The Wolverine
    7. X-Men
    6. Deadpool 2
    5. Deadpool
    4. X2: X-Men United
    3. X-Men: First Class
    2. X-Men: Days of Future Past
    1. Logan

damn, the worst? Last Stand was pretty bad, and even a PG-13 Deadpool 2 was better?

It really is crazy what a grab bag of quality the entire X-Men series has been. Maybe the greatest comic book movie of all time to absolute trash. With plenty of highs and lows in between.

    Logan is a masterpiece.

I loved DOFP, First Class, X2 and both Deadpools.

X-Men and The Wolverine were OK, but not good.

Apocalypse was bad, but not terrible IMO.

X3 and the first Wolverine were complete trash.

Dark Phoenix seems like it's in the trash tier, maybe just bad.

Pretty reasonable ranking actually. This made me go back and watch the Whitehouse scene with Nightcrawler from X2.

I guess, as a fanboy, I didn't love Logan because it was so far from the source material of Old Man Logan; which would have been OK if the X-Men movies followed a similar path of deviating but they were just all over the place which impacted the gravity of this movie. And I was disappointed in the villain, who was, of course, a younger Wolverine. I get the metaphor, just would have preferred an older Sabretooth or some other more poignant villain from the comics.

The YouTube reviews vary on this being worse than last stand or not .
They said Turner did a good job but the directing and script are bad

Let's hope Feige has some solid plans for this once great franchise.

after listening to some reviews on YouTube among other things I’ve heard about this film, I’ve gone from really looking forward to it to not wanting to spend any money to see it in theaters and just waiting to catch it on Google Play or Redbox for $2-4 when it comes out months from now

I think I’m good on this one...don’t want to waste my time

All the reshoots, the first time director, and a relative new comer in holleywood as the antagonist in Sansa Stark... never had my hopes up. Ready for the MCU reboot which is reported to come in 4-5 years.

The writer/director of this is directly responsible for such wonders as XXX: State of the Union, Fantastic Four, Xmen: The Last Stand, and Xmen: Apocalypse. I'm not surprised by this movie being a turd.

X3 and Apocalypse were written by Dark Phoenix's writer/director.

rotten tomatoes etc have way too much power, I don't like the idea of them tanking flims like that. But I've gotten sick of all these sequels / superhero movies that they reboot to death because they think we're stupid enough to watch michael bay level theatrics.

have yet to hear 1 good thing about this movie

I’m not really a big X-Men fan to begin with...I loved Logan, and Days of Future Past/Deadpool were cool...Logan is the only one that’s had any rewatchability for me...the rest have been trash, forgettable, or something I only need to see once

I was hoping Fox would go out with a bang on this one, but it looks like they slipped, fell of a cliff, and killed the franchise...now the almighty mouse at Disney will have to pick up the pieces and revive this thing

How can a movie where J-Law's character gets killed be ALL bad?

I just saw and actually quite liked most of it except
The Climax on the train. Some horrible choreography and reshoots were apparent.

The audience ratings are 67% right now which is certainly watchable. That's on par with Last Stand, Origins, Apocalypse, and way better than Once Upon a Deadpool. I'll probably go check it out.

The tomatometer is kind of bs because it's just critics. You can still have an enjoyable movie that is anywhere near perfect or original. Aladdin is 56% but the audience score is 94%. Godzilla is 40% and the audience score is 85%. A Dog's Journey is at 49% but 94% audience score.

Anyhow, this X-Men is obviously nothing close to those in audience scores, but just my side point.

RT is certainly not perfect, but I can only remember a few occasions where I liked a movie down under 30%.
