    Ok not to get too topical here but any of our Asian bros have an issue with ScarJo playing the Major bc she's white? It's a YUGE deal on iMBd boards.

    I will say it looks much better then I expected. They seem to be staying fairly true to the source material visually. Def will hit a matinee and watch it in theaters

    I think she'll do well with the role, love that they are keeping a lot of the aesthetics from the anime. I'm looking forward to it.

    No argument here. I'm fine with ScarJo. Give the role to the person who can perform it the best, but then again I didn't really watch the anime movie so it just looks like a fun sci-fi flick to me.

    I've only watched the first movie which I thought was great -- i'm not understanding the freak out on casting/ etc. They're not remaking The Godfather it's just a sci-fi action movie -- and the main complaint about the casting of Major...

    ScarJo seems like a good fit -- besides an Asian name Major wasn't drawn to be an Asian character so I don't really understand all the complaints.

    The anime movie and even the TV show never felt uniquely Japanese, so it could have just as easily taken place in Chicago or LA and still worked
