I love this trade. We finally have a legit pf/c who is 7ft. Higher % of signing NEne Opens up spot for T-Will and bud and Flynn and maybe we can also sign a SG or Sf This trade works from my perpective. WE got rid of Martin's $12 mil, Scola's 8mil for 5 years. But do pick up Gasol's 18mil. Looks like we have 2mil free. plus we lose dragics 1mil. More money to sign a SG or Sf Wow so excited

How does this open up a spot at the 3? Also, Gasol apparently had a trade kicker in his contact, increasing his salary (15%?). So far, this move is baffling to me. As usual with Morey's trades, there has to be more to it... right?

I hate this trade if it goes through. Gasol is good but he is not worth giving up all that we are for him. Theres a reason memphis didnt win much with him as the go to guy and remember how he disappeared in the play-offs
An aging soft big man who would have maybe helped a title contender, when he is not choking like he did last year. We are not a contender so you can sratch that aspect off. And I dont really care much about future cap space. The Rockets have failed to acquire players despite having "attractive pieces". Just accept mediocrity and watch others build championship teams.
Gasol will have a few young players on the Rockets roster to work with. Now at least we have a center, the question is the rockets better now that their two leading scorers are gone? At first I was upset at the trade because we essentially gave up Martin, Scola, Dragic and picks for for 31 year old Gasol. With a cap room Morey needs to land a good free agent to make this deal very worthwhile.
Wow... trade gets axed by the league! In all fairness to the original poster (cookie), it seemed all parties involved wanted to do the deal. The Rockets were giving up a little too much, but high quality Centers are expensive. A Gasol and Nene front court would have been exceptional. Now it's a question about bringing this team together for the season opener.
