First off, letting Adelman walk was something I'd do differently.Secondly, openly low balling only burns bridges with agents and only creates a environment where nobody wants to play for you. The Battier trade along with several other lateral moves have only landed us a backup center, which is failure. Morey's real problem is he targets players WAY too long limiting his options with other trades. His other issue is he simply over values his assets, giving him a false perception of how far along we are. We haven't been close to doing anything special since he took over. He's been riding on hype his whole tenure here pretty much

moneyball in the nba due to the max salary works a little different.

it's why he's willing to trade for any star really. Lebron is the most underpaid player in the nba, basically everyone in the top 20 is underpaid, because of that his strategy is "try to get star, use moneyball for role players".

His record with putting roleplayers around stars is exemplary, getting stars? its a crapshoot at best, you need to either luck out in the lottery or be in the right place at the right time for a trade.

Exactly, he needs to sit down with his coach to establish a core a a point guard/shooting guard/ big man.

Then he needs to put some milestones for accountability for his coach . For example, tell his coach we need to get 40+ wins with this core group of players and then rebuild from there.
