There are now 11 guards on the Mavs.

    Another Ellis tidbit:
    ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo 1m

Monta Ellis had the worst FG pct (32.3) on jumpers off the dribble last season (min. 250 FGA)

My point is, I dont want them to have ANY chance.

Are you saying that if they get the 8th seed, they have a chance to make noise? If not, what are you worried about?

This works in a Houston vs Dallas matchup. Ellis absolutely owns Harden when the two get into a one-on-one who can outscore the other game.

Have it All by Monta Ellis

    To be honest...
    I would put
    Myself
In the same category as D-wade.
    I mean
At the end of the day,
The only thing that he have
    That I don't is...
    You know...
    More wins and two championships.

    That's it.

    As far as playing -
    Same level.
    Competing every night -
    Both ends.
    Inside outside...
    fastbreak...
    transition...

    Monta Ellis have it all.

From Grantland's Kirk Goldsberry: ''The 2012-13 court Vision Awards:The BrickLayers'':

''I think it’s fair to say that Ellis is the least efficient volume shooter in the NBA. As a result, I view Ellis’s potential contract as a referendum on the state of analytics in the NBA.

I don’t know how much bricks cost in your neighborhood, but apparently Monta believes they’re worth more than $11 million per season. So far, it’s looking really bad for Monta’s valuation of masonry.''

He's a chucker and a cancer. Dirk is going to LOVE playing with Monta. Lol

Don't sleep on the Timberwolves, if they stay healthy they will knock the Mavericks out of the Playoffs.

Morey employed a hybrid win now-acquire assets method, lets see what the Mavs have done so far:

    http://www.hoopsworld.com/dallas-mavericks-team-salary

    Win-now:
Monta at $9mill/yr is solid, but Calderon is getting $7mill/yr for 4yrs!.
Although this was a win-now move, Morey would never sign such un-moveable contracts.

    Acquire assets:
Traded down from the 13th pick (Olynyk) + 44th pick for the 18th pick (Shane Larkin), 43rd pick (Ricky Ledo) and Boston's 2014 2nd rder. If you get over the fact that they missed on a gem like Olynyk you'll be disappointed to see that promising PG Shane Larkin and SG Ricky Ledo will be stuck behind that glut at Guard.

They'll shed a lot of salary in 2014, but could just easily have used those expiring contracts on youth/picks. Wouldn't the Bucks or Cavs trade for a severely underpaid veteran like Vince Carter?

Cuban would never tank with Dirk, but I don't understand what is going on.

Exactly. He's basically getting paid Jeremy Lin money. It's not bad at all.

When free agency began, everyone assumed Monta Ellis would get overpaid in the $12M to $13M range. And now he's on the verge of signing a contract that might average $8.5M per season. That's a good deal for Dallas. They're buying low.

Also, Monta Ellis has been in the league 8 years. He's clearly a better player than he's shown in Milwaukee. He had some pretty decent seasons for the Warriors.

It's pretty funny that the Mavs broke up a title team for the cap room to sign... Jose Calderon and Monta Ellis. Splash...

The Mavs must be really bedazzled by the ultra-bright green light this scrub, sorry, "have-it-all" comes with.

My boy is a die hard Mavs fan. He's quite embarrassed. Just told me he's on the Rox bandwagon. Terrible decision making.

The Devin Harris signing being off may have something to do with it. The 2 best guards left on the table currently are Ellis and Jennings. Pick your crazy. Personally, I think Ellis is the lesser of the 2 evils. 1 thinks he's on Wade's level and the other expects to get paid more on top of thinking he's better than he actually is.

He is better penetrating and dishing, very elusive and efficient in that aspect of his game. If he could hit a consistent jumper he would be an all-star every year.Ellis has crazy potential, just untamed and untapped. Dallas needs anybody at this point to fill out there roster so im not shocked.
