Also, they aren't the best team in baseball this year. They don't seem to back into a lot of flukey **** I've got to say. When they win it all they are a ****ing jugernaught. Unlike the Cards, who have a couple **** ass titles this century where they were basically hot garbage but got lucky/hot at the right time.
Wish it was that easy for me. I live and die with every pitch. I know this team SHOULD win it, but know it’s not probable. I keep telling my boys to enjoy this ride that they are witnessing because it’s the best stretch of Astros baseball ever. I pound this into their brains, but know they won’t truly get it for a very longtime. I’ll do my best to enjoy the ride this postseason, I just hope it ends the way I want it to. Inside, I’ll be dying until I know this team’s fate.
Is it Friday yet? I can't freaking wait.....also for the first "cold" front of the year to come through this coming week.
I am enjoying this Astros run like previous Rockets runs. It's a good thing we banked 2017, otherwise I'd feel nauseous. It is special to live and die with every pitch, just like how we used to scream at the TV with each shot, pass, rebound or defensive stop. I believe from a talent standpoint, this 2019 Astros team is the most talented team in the history of Houston professional sports. If they win the title, it would be the greatest team in Houston sports history. What an opportunity. Knowing this, it would be gut wrenching for them not to win the title. Now, I get that the first Rockets championship broke the seal and will always hold that special place. The second had the Hakeem Drex storyline. And the 2017 Astros were special because it was the first and because of Hurricane Harvey. So I don't mean to suggest that a 2019 Astros championship would be the most satisfying or most special. But it would be a coronation of the most talented team in Houston history, and the team would remembered as one of the all time greats in baseball history.
Totally and completely 100% agree. I'd rank them right now: 2017 Astros, 1994 Rockets, 1995 Rockets. If this team wins it all I'd rewrite that to be 2019 Astros (so amazingly good trumping first ever for me personally), 1994 Rockets, 2017 Astros, 1995 Rockets.
This. All of it. The 2019 Stros have a chance to put this era in the conversation with the handful of best team eras in the history of baseball. I want this. Badly.
The Rays have a sizable lead... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/wild-card-game-rays-vs-athletics.301367/
Yup. I want this Banner hung to cement us as one of the greatest teams to ever do it. I dont want this team to be remembered with the likes of the braves and have people wonder, "how did they only win one?"
Yep. I'm actually more excited/interested for the game tonight than I have been for any non-Astros game in a long time. Tomorrow gonna suck though.
I'm always curious how the players deal with this time off (even if it's good for them) - I'd be a nervous wreck. Would probably just put on my uniform and sit in the dugout until gametime.
Me too. I'm really pulling for CFM. I think I'd rather play the A's, but honestly they are both good teams, it's baseball, and I think we are a 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5 favorite to beat either of them, and I don't think getting one vs the other moves the needle.
Full on workouts yesterday and today I think. Spring training type fundamental work and testing out any injuries. I'd imagine tomorrow is advanced scouting and game planning combined with film study and maybe enough physical activity to break a sweat.
