Regardless of how a fluky postseason goes, Brantley has helped elevate this team to superteam status. The dude has been a beast in a Astros uni.
didn't say he isn't a big part of this team. he absolutely is. hopefully he can give the stros alot of it in the postseason you replied to a post talking about the 2017 ship team. they were deep and marwin was a huge part of it as well. who had a compatible season to this years brantley
hoping he can come up in key moments like marwin did. brantley has been terrible in his playoff appearances
I like what Gerrit Cole said about the playoffs: Astros ace Gerrit Cole hit the nail on the head with this statement over the weekend: "if you don’t understand that the playoffs can be somewhat of a crapshoot sometimes, then you don’t watch enough baseball." As much as the Astros SHOULD win the pennant, we need a lot of good mojo to fall our way.
I replied because you mentioned 2017 being the difference between Marwin and Yordan. Don't leave out Brantley. He's a critical piece.
there's avenues to playing both and making guaranteed money in the end if you're set on either team. based on the odds of either team
the biggest difference is by far yordan. the difference bw marwin's and brantley's seasons were comparable
degenerate gamblers know if one team is a fav and the other a underdog, you can hit a middle area where money is still profitable at -115 for the stros and +255 for the yankees to win the AL. there's decent ground there
Marwin 2017: 138H, 34 2B, 23HR, 90RBI, 8SB, 44BB, 99SO, .303BA, .377OBP, .530SLG, .907OPS, 146OPS+, 241TB, 4.1WAR Brantley 2019:179H, 40 2B, 22HR, 90RBI, 3SB, 51BB, 66SO, .311BA, .372OBP, .503SLG, .875OPS, 126OPS+, 289TB, 4.6WAR While you are right in both having productive seasons, Brantley was far more productive in his 41 extra hits and 33 less K's.
i guess marwins versatility doesn't get taken into account who was far more productive there. but hey since you want to mention these extra hits and k's
