Didn't Sports Illustrated picked the Indians to win the World Series last year and they didn't even make the playoffs. They made it to the World Series a year later. Didn't Sports Illustrated picked the Astros to win it this year and they didn't make the playoffs this year. World Series for the Stros in 2017?
I didn't watch a single game in the postseason Didn't watch game 7 tonight. I'm glad the Indians didn't win only bc the cavs won the ship for that city - that's enough for them.
Lebron's airball free throw last night happened right before the airball flyball in the 1st inning last night, and only 100 yards away in the adjacent stadium. That airball sucked the clutch out of the city.
At minimum think of how many people have lived and died without seeing the cubs win a world series. It's cool that we saw it
True, but I think 1997 still stings worse for them. They were still very lucky to get to the WS given their starting pitching injuries. Don't think you can shoo them to get there again either because the AL is packed with above average teams right now depending on how free agency and injures for 2017 play out.
its beautiful to see a major city like chicago being a baseball city. No city will love their team more then chicago loves their cubs even though i hate them.
houston wasnt even 1/10th of what chicago was during the world series when we were in the ws. Gotta give chicago credit
Really, 1 NBA championship is enough for that city. I'm sure Cubs fans in Chicago were really down when the Bulls Three Peated Twice. When the Bears won the Super Bowl. When the Blackhawks won two Stanley Cups in just the last few years. That poor city. They definitely deserved another championship...unlike Cleveland.
"But from the ashes of a 101-loss season in 2012, the Cubs methodically built a 101-win team this year through: executing shrewd trades for an All-Star first baseman (Anthony Rizzo), All-Star shortstop (Addison Russell), last year’s Cy Young Award winner (Jake Arrieta) and an emerging ace (Kyle Hendricks); drafting a leading MVP candidate (Kris Bryant); and going on a free-agent spending spree that approached $290 million (John Lackey, Ben Zobrist, Jason Heyward, Dexter Fowler)." http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-c...epstein-signs-massive-contract-extension-cubs
Wtf are you talking about? Jake was a project when they got him from the O's, he didnt come abroad as a cy young candidate Rizzo was an all star first baseman back in 2012? Do you have any fkin idea what youre talking about.
I am glad that the Cubs won- but not because The Curse is over. No- because The Excuse of the Curse is officially dead. No more bullshit curse excuses- and that goes for the City of Houston. There's no curse against our city- we need better owners who make better decisions on both players and coaches. I do think the Astros have done a good job, but the Texans and Rockets owners are under-performing in this area. No more curses, ever- yeah!!
