NO!!! This team's beginning to show a spark & we're getting DMo back. I've said several times that it might be the AS break before this team becomes fully healthy & has incorporated Lawson into the rotation. So why(< 1/4 of the way in) talk about a kneejerk trade sending our leading scorer & go to guy out for a project?!!?
No one is giving up Simmons for James or anyone else we have. OP just said he's once a generation kind of player...that's a Lebron, not a James Harden. No one is trading "Lebron" for james Harden, plain and simple..
Ben Simmons isn't going to be a project. Barring injuries, he's going to be a superstar with a ceiling higher than Harden's. If Morey doesn't think this team can sniff a championship the next few years because of the Warriors dominance and the Spurs and Cavs likely to be better, he should definitely consider trading Harden for the number 1. However, I wouldn't doubt Morey's ability to get more talent around James asap to help close the gap. I just wish he had hired a better coach. This team under Brad Stevens the last 2.5 years would definitely be contenders, and possibly the favorite. And it would've been a fit that made a lot of sense since Stevens might be the most analytical coach in the league. Blah
don't need to start over, but do need some talent in the form of a pick. It was a pipe dream to get durant etc before...but who the **** would want to come here now lmao
Agree on Stevens. Disagree about your assessment of Simmons. It's not enough to be "a superstar." You have to be THE superstar of the league to be worth that trade, i.e. you don't trade Harden unless you are getting a young Lebron James. Not even a young Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, or Kevin Durant are enough because you have to wait so long for them to develop. As we saw last year, Harden is good enough to make you a contender but only with expert coaching, a great supporting cast, and luck. The same is true of most franchise guys like Davis, Paul, and Durant, even if they're a little better than Harden. In the last 30 years, the only guys that have transcended this level have been LBJ and MJ, and you need some really strong evidence to convince anyone that Simmons is as good as those two.
