Massive 8.1 Earthquake Off Southern Coast of Mexico

    The only consolation is that the epicentre was in the sea and had around 70 km depth.
    I hope there aren't many dead.

    It creates tsunami, but also it makes it much easier for the buildings in the land.
    If the epicentre was on land, and a 5 to 10 km depth then we would be counting the deaths now in the ten of thousands.

    From reports it did create a tsunami but a small one. There are many variables with an earthquake and just because it's at sea doesn't mean it will create a tsunami. Depth in the earth, depth in the water, direction, amplitude, and also the shape of the coast wll affect whether a tsunami happens and how bad it might be.

    So that area has a hurricane, a tsunami, and an earthquake simultaneously... only things to wait for now are a volcanic eruption and meteor impact...
