I don't think your alternative suggestion will work, but I do agree there is an inherent bias. It isn't a casual thing for a grown man to get a circumcision. So, there would be a lot of personal investment in making the decision to do so a good one. Even if the women didn't expect it to change their sex life, there would be a bias toward thinking positively about it or else they would have discouraged it in the first place.
