With a five game lead essentially over GSW including tiebreaker, with only 11 games left, most at home, does any one know what combination of Rocket wins and/or GSW losses it will take to give us best record in the west? I really don't care about the East. Concerned mainly about positioning to make to finals.
7 to clinch the #1 seed in the West. 8 to clinch the best record in the league. But we have other threads devoted to this, so we may wanna merge them.
Thanks for the math. Best Rocket Team ever with the exception of the back to back championship teams. Would be great to follow up the best World Series ever IMO with a Rocket championship. It's been a long time coming but if we can stay healthy, I believe the pieces are in place.
Refer to this nice thread from @topfive: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...s-to-happen-for-wcf-and-finals-1-seeds.289088.
There is some interesting info on that thread. I will be happy when we clinch #1 seed so we can go into the playoffs rested and healthy. Would be nice to give some of the other guys some more playing time and still keep up our momentum. Eight of the last ten teams that got the #1 seed ended up as NBA champions. That's what we are all looking forward to. If we can keep this unit together and healthy the next several years are sure to be good times for Rocket fans.
If Cleveland can close out Toronto, I'll feel safe with regard to securing the best record in the league. Finishing the season 7-4 in our last 11 games would still give us HCA throughout the playoffs.
At this point, I think it’s safe to say we have the HCA locked up pretty much. The way they are playing right now, it’s hard to imagine if they will lose 1 game in the remainder of the season, much less 5.
Despite last nights whatever you want to call it, magic number to clinch west 5 and overall 6? Is that correct?
Nope. 6 for both. The Warriors are still at 18 losses, so if they win out, the Rockets would need to win 6 more games. Now they're not going to win out(they still have a home and away with Utah and visit OKC). But for now, let's just assume the Rockets need to get 6 more wins.
I believe the Rockets clinch the #1 seed as long as they can go at least 6-4 for the remaining games. If they go 5-5, the Warriors have to win every remaining game to recover the #1 seed.
