Made the switch to google chrome today (have questions)

Doesn't it use way too much ram? At first I thought it didn't because in my activity monitor chrome showed to barely be using any memory. But then I noticed that every single tab that's open has it's own separate listing in the activity monitor. When you add it all up it's usually an insanely high number compared to Opera.
