I'm finally considering to purchase an Apple laptop. My Hp laptop last me about 2 1/2 years it was a huge 17" screen, but the right hinge broke and will be around $200 to replace the lcd bezel. Value of the laptop being around $300 dollars. So I decided that I will go to the darkside and try a macbook. For apple users what do you recommend I decided to stick with a 13" screen for a change.
The 1100 macbook pro is a great value. It's one of the single shell aluminum cases. What is going to be your primary use for it?
Just everyday email and internet usage. Got fed up with my constant freezing or even disruption when trying to watch videos over the internet.
i got a macbook(13" aluminum version, 2.4GHz) about 2 months ago but they dont sell those anymore. IMO, you cant go wrong with either macbook and macbook pro...i would recommend the lower end macbook pro since it looks nicer and sexier than the macbook. and feels good too.
I have a 13 inch macbook pro and I love it. No problem with the inputs or hinges, and the unibody is really sturdy, plus the aluminum frame acts as a nice heatsink. The touch controls make using a laptop SO much easier too. I would recommend it to anyone.
If you're just using it for everyday stuff, get the MacBook. You won't need to the power of a Pro if you're not editing video, photos, music or even gaming.
that 13.3 inch mac is not really a pro. its bascially the regular white macbook with aluminum. the *real* pros have the dedicated graphics cards.
spend the same amount of money on a better laptop. forget the pizazz and jazz hands aspects of having a mac go for the value and pop
My vote goes to the aluminum 13" MacBook Pro because of the improved quality of design, backlit keyboard, and integrated SD card reader. The white 13" MacBook easily scratches and forms cracks over time which may or may not be repaired under the standard 1-year warranty. Also, if you're a student, you'll save $100 on the laptop and be able to get a free 8 GB iPod Touch with purchase. Chopped makes a great point that the "integrated" video of the 13" and low end 15" laptops is not comparable to the "dedicated" one you get with the higher end 15" and 17" laptops starting at $2,000. Since you're not planning on doing any gaming or photo/video editing you should be fine though.
I am actually thinking about getting the macbook (perhaps pro). Im not a serious photography person, but it is a hobby of mine. I wont be doing a ton of editing, but Im pretty sure I will tinker with stuff here and there. Do ya'll think I need the dedicated graphics card?
does the macbook have the built -in camera? that would be the deal breaker for me. i have a 2006 model of the macbook pro with the built in i-sight camera and have enjoyed its benefits and still use it for video chats and video posts...
For just basic photo editing? Probably not. I wouldn't recommend an integrated card if you can get discrete one without paying much more, though.
Windows 7 will be here in October, for free with pretty much any computer you buy that has Vista Home Premium or higher. Everything I've heard thus far indicates the improvement significant, possibly even that Microsoft has released a GOOD product.
I'd go for the 13" MacBook pro for Firewire I have the black macbook and it's all great except no backlight keyboard. I'm getting the macbook pro asap.
I will buy windows 7 for my other laptop I bought at walmart $298 (compaq) pretty decent. I never tried apple OS, but I keep hearing good reviews from their users.
Hey MiddleMan and DreamRoxCoogFan, glad to see you're considering Macs. The best advice I can give to y'all is to go to an Apple Store. It's not exactly a secret that I work for the company, so I want to tell you a little bit about how we do things. We don't work on commission -- nobody benefits from selling you more expensive computers or tacking on extras. We believe in the products we sell and want to make sure you have all the information about them that you want. My dad, older sister, and I use MobileMe. We all have AppleCare on our computers (my little sister and grandmother too). I teach One to One, and I'm getting it for my mom when I get her a computer. We do something called Personal Shopping where you can get an hour one-on-one with a Mac specialist to figure out any problems you might have. Head to http://www.apple.com/retail/personalshopping/ to book an appointment to come in. It's a free service. I work at the Houston Galleria store. If you want, shoot me an email through the board when if you plan on heading out. And if you want to know who to talk to, I can give you a suggestion as well (or you can come see me when I'm working).
I love my original MacBook, except for the white polycarb shell. Cracks on the edge of the keyboard where the magnets close the lid are unavoidable. I'm planning on getting a new shell soon through AppleCare and pawning this laptop off on craigslist so I an upgrade to the MBP 13". Seriously, the case is my only complaint.
