Despite trading Tobias, i think the Clippers will still make the playoffs. The Clippers have come along way since the days Charles Barkley use to to go tirades and bash the organization for being cheap....
Do you guys even want that though? I think they should do themselves and the Rockets a solid by buying out JaMychal.
I think the Clippers are done buying out/waiving players, as they already bought out/waived three players in: Marcin Gortat, Milos Teodosic, and Michael Beasley. The Clippers roster now stands at 14 players, so there is no urgency to waive/buyout anyone else.
Sounds like Pat and Lou are the two defacto leaders of the clippers. Patrick Beverley (@patbev21) Tweeted: My dog https://t.co/sAA7qO7POk According to Trez, as soon as the Clippers traded Tobias both Lou and Pat went to the Clippers front office and were assured that they would not be tanking but playing for a playoff spot.
Clippers depth chart after trade: Zubac/Harrell/Green Gallo/Chandler/Luc Shamet/Temple/Thornwell Bev/Lou/Robinson Shai/Wallace That team has no stars but its deep and if healthy everyone can play. With the Clippers easy strength of schedule, i think they make the playoffs and make themselves look more appealing to 2019 free agents.
Clippers trade away their entire big three, then trade the biggest piece they get in return in Tobias, and they are still in the Playoffs this late in the season. The Lakers add Lebron James for nothing and don't look like they will make the playoffs. Lakers trade away DLo to dump a bad contract, and he becomes a super star at 22 years old. DLO is now > Kuzma, Ball, and Ingram at this stage. Lakers FO has surpassed Knicks. Unreal The Clippers have now had a better owner and organization for the better part of the decade, and the fair weather fans of LA still don't respect them and boo their own team.
The Blake Griffin trade set up the Clippers for the future with Zubac/Shai/Shamet and some future picks... But it was the CP3 trade that set up the Clippers for the present. Cp3 for Bev/Lou/Harell/and a 2018 first round pick that the Clippers flipped for Galo. Those four are the core four of the 2018-19 Clippers. While the Clippers won't win the 2019 title, they set themselves up to look more attractive for 2019 free agency.
