So I want to get my central AC system checked and looking for a company that someone has had a good (honest) experience with regarding AC repair/potential compressor replacement. As this can go from somewhat cheap (coil replacement) to very expensive (compressor and/or system)....I really want an honest company. Any ideas? Rep to any serious replies Thanks in advance, CF!
I just had my compressor and coils replaced last Wednesday. Air Tech of Houston. It wasn't cheap but they were fast. I called them out Wednesday and from the time I decided to pull the trigger they had 6-7 guys and the new unit at my house in an hour. It was installed 2.5 hours after that.
My wife's business used this company (contact info lifted from some random website, since I didn't have my rolodex on hand): Sunset Air Conditioning & Heating Phone: (281) 537-5737 Fax: (281) 866-7583 13331 Veterans Memorial, # E, Houston, TX 77014 I also used him for my home system. We found him to be very honest and conscientious, moreso than our other contractors on the build.
PM'ed you. My dad is an A/C guy. He's helped a few people on the board. Tell him you know his son from "that Rockets website." He'll know what you're talking about.
If you are in or near The Woodlands (Spring, Conroe), Knight Air Conditioning run by Michael Knight has always been very responsive and extremely honest.
Bellaire AC has always treated me well. 713-772-1217 7315 Ashcroft Drive, Suite 116 Houston, TX 77081
Sorry, I didn't realize that I had an outdated email address on my account. Please resend. I wonder how many other PMs I've missed. :-/
Just thought I'd second this recommendation ... I called him based on DarkHorse's post on a similar thread in the past. His dad came out and fixed our A/C. I thought I might need some major work but he found the problem and it wasn't expensive really. Would definitely call him again when I have an issue.
If replacement is likely, go with Trane ...worth it. pick a authorized installer that has been around. usually starts at 5K or more for a common size split or package 2 to 3 ton- get the variable speed 14 SEER - worth it but more money
Thanks for the recs, everyone. Darkhorse, will call your dad tomorrow to start with and may try another as well.
The A/C went out at my house Saturday. I searched some of these old threads. It's funny how A/C units crap out right before it gets super hot. I got some Vietnamese dude to fix it. John Moore tried to upsell some ****. No thanks bro. And stop smelling my rose bush moron.
