Just got my plasma and now I need to mount it on the wall. I can probably do it myself but I want everything to look clean so I rather have it professionally done. Any recommendations on an installer? Rather stay away from Worst Buy and any big retailer.

I mounted my 46 inch on the wall with a mount I bought from monoprice.com. Total cost was like $35 and it was much easier than I expected it to be. Finding the studs was the hardest part.

What did you do to hide the wires? I was thinking a nice long shelf rack that was tall enough to fit right under the mounted TV. I don't know though, would probably look weird huh? I don't wanna go drilling holes in my wall either.

    Sorry to hijack distence.

If you get an installer be careful they don't inflate the price with the cost of cables. All AV retail/installers make a huge profit off expensive cables and will insist that it makes a huge difference in quality but the reality is you don't have to spend a lot for good cables. They can sell the set and installation for cheap and make up the difference on the cables by just sneaking them in.

Don't get me wrong, you do want quality cables, especially when you use longer cables and most importantly when they are going into walls or attics where you can't change them easily. Having said that look for the best cables monoprice.com sells. Very good cables for VERY reasonable prices.

Did you steal "Worst Buy" from me?Not taking a chance doing it yourself? It's worth a try. You can buy one of them stands with the mount already on them, is all. How big is your plasma TV, and what components do you have? If we get a joint effort here, we can guide you on how to connect and arrange your connections. Nowadays, they make them tables that have the plasma stand thingies right behind them.

I know I've seen something like THIS HERE ->

Ziggy, I have my 56" DLP on a table, and I've asked around and almost no one I know has their plasma on the wall. Everyone whom I've asked has it either on a dresser or on a stand. What you might need is to putone of these here cable hidin' thingies (that's a british company, but I bet there are some good ones in the U.S. and A.) or to add a plate cover that will allow you to run the cables behind the wall.
I installed mine myself. It was pretty easy and I saved a ton of cash. I am not mr. handyman, so you can do it. I only needed help hanging it.

Thanks for the offer! Since Panasonic is giving up to a $200 rebate for installation im gonna let a professional do it while I set back and relax. Its a 42in plasma and will be hooked up to comcast dvr, dvd player, and xbox 360. I think I found a company on craigslist that will do it for $150. Just waiting on my cables (monoprice) and mount to arrive.

It may not even be possible to get the cables down the wall depending on attic access. If it is though, you would need to be able to cut them to a proper length and then add your own interconnects. For the most part though, if you cant run them inside the walls you can use some velcro strips to keep them "neat" and bundled together. Its not as clean as inwall, but still looks pretty nice. You can also get paintable wires and run them along the baseboards if need be.

Hardest part about mounting the plasma is finding the studs and making sure you have a good hold. Wall anchors wont hold up anything more than about 20 inches.
