How many excuses are going to be made for Curry this season? Having lost some talent, the team still has the opportunity to compete, and the pressure is on Curry to make those around him better. He has thrived in environments where someone else can shoulder most of the load (eg, Durant the last few years) - has Curry got what it takes to step up and lead a team? Is it time to start talking about Curry's defence? (or complete lack of?) They've been obliterated in their first 2 games, and are dealing with some injuries. But surely a hall of famer level player can keep them competitive (like Harden with the Rox mid last season). So far, LOL@ Chef Curry.
What's the misfortune? That they are losing badly in basketball games? It's not ok to root against them?
I've always thought of them as front runners. Any adversity at all and that team, even with the stars they had, would start to look shaky.
It’s 2 games. Let’s chill on the schadenfreude until we see how things pan out. The Rockets aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders either.
Good point. Just creating the thread early because I don't believe Curry can carry a team to contender status with "only" 2 other all stars on it to help him.
But they did win a title, make it to game 7 of another finals and set the regular season wins record before Durant got there. I dont think curry can carry some of the teams James has, but his supporting cast right now is garbage. They started Chriss at center today for crying out loud. They have guys running around out there that I dont even recognize. They'll be better next season when klay is back, they get a high draft pick and they flip Dlo for someone useful. I cant stand the warrior b****es but Curry is out there with walkons.
There’s no way an MVP and an all star should get blown out by a team that won’t even make the playoffs. It’s probably easy to play well when you’re surrounded by great players.
We might be saying some premature stuff about Curry, but I always suspected the dude is a system player and not a transcendent one. I was never able to imagine him carrying a team the way Harden and even Russ did to the playoffs. I mean take either the 2017 Rockets or Thunder and insert Curry over Harden or Russ, would either make the playoffs? My hunch is that in a short amount of time most will realize that Steph is the product of a system that caught every other team by surprise during a highly transitional period in the NBA. Well see...
Also to your point is that, Harden was carrying the Rockets with D leaguers starting next to him last year. I never thought any version of Curry was even remotely close to Harden. Now that the pressure is truly on Curry. Well see what he does now that he’s basically wearing Harden’s shoes. Wouldn’t be surprised if he exaggerates an injury to avoid the scrutiny...
