how do you expect a comedy to 'tackle' that?

its bad. it shouldn't happen. its a damn shame. its criminal. its against all morals and ethics of all religious. what more do you want?

Nothing wrong with the comedy really. There's just a lot of shows that claim to tackle the serious issues but never really do. Just a rehash of criticisms of the West. (Nothing wrong with that either, just think it's getting old).

I bet if Muslim culture was criticized people would call it racist.

well i think thats the problem. it should stick to being a comedy not a PSA about muslim society. when it does the muslim society bit but doesn't address what you brought up...thats a fair criticism.

Trailer Park Boys, the greatest Canadian comedy of all, doesn't use a laugh track either.

Because that's such a big part of the lives of Canadian Muslims?

Mehh. I'm Muslim. Nothing wrong with the show except that I don't personally find it funny. But I do support its cause if it uses comedy to break silly stereotypes.

    Such as?

I would imagine that whatever stereotype they create would not be as bad as the ones broken, so the net effect would be positive.

No one is saying these people are idols who's lives we can model our own around. When you look at how conservative they are, they are slightly above average. Obviously, not perfect, and a sitcom is no place to find a role model.

The main stereotype which I would like destroyed is that Muslim=Mullah. Not praising or critisizing Mullahs, but Mullahs and average Muslims live their lives in radically different ways for whatever reason.
