Having gone to the Finals six straight years and being the reigning NBA champion has put a figurative ‘X’ on LeBron James‘ back.

Teams around the League, and especially in the East, are aiming to dethrone LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers, sometimes shaping their roster to counter Cleveland’s.

LeBron remembers being the hungry underdog trying to defeat Boston’s Big Three. But years of continually falling short led him to form his own star trios—first in Miami, and now in Cleveland.

“I know teams switch and pick up new coaches or new players, and their whole goal is kind of they want to beat me,” James told cleveland.com, in a candid discussion about the upcoming year and his place in the sport at age 31, in this his 14th season. “It’s never just about me, but I always hear them saying, ‘We gotta beat LeBron.’ It’s not just me on the court, but I understand that teams get together in this conference and across the league to try to beat me.” http://www.slamonline.com/nba/lebron-james-teams-try-to-beat-me/

    […]

The Celtics, with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, among others, knocked the Cavs out of the playoffs in 2008 and 2010. Boston won it all in 2008 and lost to the Lakers in the 2010 Finals.

    […]

“And then at that time we didn’t even have any money to go get anybody. I knew personally that D Wade was a free agent, I knew Bosh was a free agent, I knew Amare (Stoudemire) was a free agent, I knew Carlos Boozer was a free agent, so I knew I had to try and get some guys to try and get Boston, man. That was my whole mindset.”

He's clearly delusional. Teams are scared of Rockets: Reloaded, featuring DeMo.

He is the best player in the game. That being said... kyrie great finals and clutch shots down the stretch of game 7 allowed LeBron to win a title.

A game 7 which would not have happened had LeBron not scored 41 points back to back. Not even the LeBron haters can put an asterisk on the 3-1 comeback. Only call him bigheaded lol. Its a reasonable assessment considering LeBron has made the finals for the past 6 seasons, if championship caliber-teams aren't preparing to face him then I would be shocked.

The audacity of this dude mentioning guys "teaming up". Lebron teamed up with superstars TWICE in his NBA career. This is why I don't respect him the same way I respect Kobe, MJ, Magic etc. These guys were cut throat competitors and wanted to kill each other on the court. They didn't see the game as a business until OFF the court. The NBA has become a clown show now with the guy who originally started this superteam trend, calling out others for doing something HE started.

He acknowledged that. He said he had to team up to go at Boston's Big 3. Which is true -- that was the predecessor super-team. I don't see how Lebron acknowledging what is obviously true, though, is any big deal. Teams and players make decisions based on what competition is out there, and Lebron's teams are one of the big variables to consider. Durant might not have left OKC if he didn't have the Warriors and Cavs looking so unbeatable.

Thank God he cleared all that up for us. Because so many of us thought everybody was teaming up to beat McConnell, Grant, and Covington.

Well, I don't think anybody is teaming up to beat "him". More so him, and the elite supporting cast he left Miami to join. If he wanted to beat the big 3 in Boston, how about go to the gym and get better?

Super teams have been going on before Lebron, in fact all the dynasties in the NBA are made up of superteams, I mean it's ridiculous you respect Kobe for being a cut throat competitor but he was shown throwing a tantrum when the Lakers didn't trade Andrew Bynum for Jermaine O'Neal, and when when the Lakers were going nowhere with him as the sole star he was saying publicly he was thinking about signing with the LA Clippers since they seemed to have their **** together with Sam Cassell and Elton Brand. Magic and MJ had no reason to complain because they were already in super teams, are you saying MJ, Pippen and Rodman isn't a super team? What about Magic and Kareem, that's not a super team? Kobe's like the most babied superstar in the NBA, the only time he won something was when he was in a super team, either with Shaq or with Pau/Odom/Bynum. This whole hate for Lebron for wanting to form his own superteam is pretty dumb when you start looking at the various reasons people make up for it. Why be so blinded and distort the facts just so you can make your own argument against Lebron? You're basically making up your own history here dude.

And it's not like LBJ was facing single superstars as well, the Boston team and Spurs team that caused him to form up with Wade and Bosh were super teams to with Celtics actually having 4 all stars at the time and Spurs with their own big 3. So Lebron isn't good enough to beat 4 all stars, that's supposed to be a crime? Kobe couldn't even bring his team out of the 2nd round by himself, and he had prime Lamar Odom by his side at the time. He also quit on his team in that series, so you respect the quitter but make fun of the guy who was so competitive he swallowed his pride and joined another team just to give him a better chance at winning.

SO DID KYRIE. Kyrie dropped 41 in game 5 and followed up with ...for all of Lebron's greatness...Kyrie had an equally great finals...avg 27.1 PPG. (Lebron 29.7 PPG). There is no need for an asterisk...Lebron proved why he is the best in the game in the finals.

The year before, Lebron was SO great in the finals that people genuinely considered giving a finals MVP to Lebron as a member of the losing team. He had an even more dominant performance in that series, but they were dispatched in 6 games. I have zero qualms about Lebron's comments. He is the best, but he had help last year to win a title (what he lacked a year prior in 2015 when Kyrie went down in game 1)...

Individually, EVERY team will gun for the ALPHA dog. Since the Cavs won the title, I expect teams to bring their best against Lebron EVERY night.

LeBron started this by teaming up with Wade and Bosh in Miami, then leaving them to join a much younger Kyrie, Wiggins, and Thompson squad once they got old and injured.

Now he wants to say something about other players doing exactly what he did to win his first 2.
