Thats the thing. The Lakers would lose a very good versatile big man in Gasol who can play PF or Center. If they lose Pau, Kobe and CP3 would be a dangerous backcourt but they no longer have Pau. Getting CP3 is great because now the Lakers have 2 superstars but losing a all star caliber big man is huge. It might make them even worst. Unless they can find another quality big PF in return. Other than that, the Lakers lost their size. Andrew Bynum is injury prone so chances are, he may get injured again. Who knows, CP3 is better suited to play with the Knicks or even Magic over LA. Kobe is getting old and probably have a good 2 more years left. Once he's done, CP3 is the only one left in LA.
Okafor and Bynum together? Do you know that will basically clog the paint for both Kobe and Paul? Pau is the player they can least afford to lose in terms of big man b/c he's so skilled on both ends. Again, the Lakers do improve b/c Paul at his best is a superstar player. But size matters more than anything in this league, especially when you can put 3 of them out there like the Lakers did.
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein ESPN CP3 trade latest: Trade with Lakers will NOT go through Friday and Chris Paul is expected in Hornets camp, according to sources 1 minute ago Favorite Retweet Reply sportsguy33 Bill Simmons I despise the Lakers. I absolutely love watching Chris Paul play point guard. This is a really tough day. I think I'm going to get drunk. 5 minutes ago
If they don't get Howard I don't see this team being any good.. Bynum will be expected to play more minutes... If he gets hurt they are screwed what big men do they have behind him? Who's going to play PF anyways?
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski The NBA is now pushing New Orleans GM Dell Demps to pull the plug on the trade and keep Chris Paul, league sources tell Y! Sports.
If we can get another impact player, then this deal will make sense. If we get Deandre Jordan or Nene then it will be a great front court. I think we gave up way too much in this deal. Losing Martin, Scola, Dragic, NY 1st rd pk, and Minnesota's 2nd rounder in 2012..ooochhhh..it's a lot. Nene/Gasol Paul Gasol/Patterson Patrick Patterson/Chase/Parsons Courtnee Lee Lowry/Flynn We still have to add few players in the back court in order to be perenial playoff team in my opinion. I know we do have players playing in overseas like Sergio llull, Montejunas etc. Any chance we get back Aaron Brooks? Phoenix just signed Shannon Brown and they already have Nash. I am puzzled...I am sure more moves is coming..
The NBA wants the Hornets to pull the plug on the deal, so the Lakers can trade Bynum + Odom for DH. I prefer the former scenario.
