Wow, I can't believe that Cuban's actually handing out 4 year contracts considering his team's not going to be competitive in the near future. Their championship days were over when he was forced to deal Chandler. Not to disparage Calderon, he's actually good at running the point and bombing those 3s, but what's the point of signing him now? It's days like this that I'm glad our FO realized a dead end, had the balls blow up the team demolition style, and actually have faith and patience to rebuild. Trade Dirk while he still has value and salvage something from Matrix and VC while he's at it. Even Dirk gave him an out earlier on last season when he said he was willing to be traded if they weren't going to be competitive against the top tier teams. Dirk must be mulling over his options about now. I wouldn't be surprised if at this point of his career Dirk took a modest pay cut compete. Perhaps Cuban should've jumped at the opportunity that GSW gave the Jazz.
people have to face the reality of the nba market. if you're not on a rookie contract and are not a superstar, you basically are over paid. 7 million + is basically the going rate for 13 points 6 assists guards.
This is probably a good sign that Dallas has no intention of tanking. They'll try to remain semi-competitive while compiling assets and try to copy what Morey did with the Rockets.
2014 FA class is overrated. Half of the big names have player options and I don't understand why everyone just assumes they'll opt out. LeBron isn't going to opt out of Miami to get away from an aging Wade just to go play with Old Kobe, Old Nash and the #7 pick in the 2014 draft. Tanking for a pick in 2014 is a crap-shoot, so many teams are trying for Wiggins that you could probably play D-Leaguers all season and still end up with the #10 pick.
The best they could do is get #1. Sign Bogut and granger. Calderon Granger Wiggins Dirk Bogut Ain't gunna happen but that looks nice...
They're going after Bynum. Bynum Dirk Marion Carter Calderon / Larkin Old, injured, crippled... A big pile of pu pu platter?

Seems like Lin is making more per year than Calderon, who does the job we need Lin to do better than Lin does. Not clear to me how this would cause Leslie to fart or laugh.
Dirk sure sounds thrilled with the Mavs' off-season lol...

We worked all summer to get DH to Dallas.
