Before he got hurt, they had a FG and 2 punts. But yeah, that certainly hurt them. But they also couldn't run the ball the whole game, nor did they do anything to counter the pressure Georgia was getting on Young. But worst of all, when you're down 8 with 1.5 minutes to go and 3 timeouts at midfield, and you've been moving the ball really effectively underneath, and don't have your two deep threat elite receivers, maybe don't run primarily deep routes on 3 consecutive plays. It's classic BoB of not having any understanding of game or time situation. He is an OC and not an HC. And he's a not a particularly great OC - he's a decent to maybe good one. That's it. Give him Tom Brady or the Alabama recruiting pipeline, and he can look good. Give him Brian Hoyer and he can look decent. But give him Deshaun Watson ... and he's still only decent.
So, when Bama put 41 on this same Georgia team in the SEC Championship game...it was another OC for Bama? Get real. Georgia was the #1 defense in the country. Injuries to WRs hurt Bama.
He is just a bad coach when it comes to anything strategic related. He wasn't a good offensive coordinator for Alabama either....... they lost a game they had no business losing yesterday. Alabama has had this happen before, they lost the title game when they had Sarkesian replacing their good OC late in the season. I wouldn't touch BOB...... and for Alabama, hire a good OC.... you can pull that off.
Georgia made adjustments and BOB didn't......... I am fine with it, I knew it would happen....... I made $500 on Georgia because BOB has the creativity and predictability of paint drying.
No - he had a good gameplan in meeting #1. But then good OCs and DCs learn and adapt. Georgia adjusted. Alabama didn't. It's the same stuff we saw with the Texans.
How did CF make it three complete pages discussing the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS and no one dropped the greatest NFL fan dismay gif? Slackers!
I agree - Bryce Young wasn't the problem. BoB was - he was running plays as though he had elite receivers out there and he didn't. They had a lot more success on underneath routes that didn't require amazing plays by receivers. On the last series, he stopped going to those despite having plenty of time and moving the ball effectively with those - instead, he ran 3 straight all-vertical routes to inexperienced receivers playing against experienced defensive backs. It's classic of BoB of not understanding game management or his personnel.
Brian Robinson up the middle for a 1 yard gain with 2 min left was an amazing call. BoB had a brain fart and thought he had Lamar Miller out there.
Bama should have kept throwing to the back out of the backfield that was killing Georgia, but predictably, BOB tried to get cute and lost. DD
Bump. I was surprised to see tinman of all folks b in the BoB fanclub also. Not surprised the number 1 BoB fanboi wanted his favorite coach to get hired by the jags Some folks just like sht hc based on small achievements.
BoB had a good track record in the NFL as a coach not a GM. He should get a college gig like Nebraska, that's so BoB.
