Right? Green looks like a future star against NBA competition and posters are still thinking of moving him.
After what I have seen with Green I wouldn't trade him away any time soon. Also starting over again with 2 rookies again increases the chances of giving the Thunder a better and better pick in 2023. The Rockets should be trying to sign a good player next free agent at the weakest area of the team next offseason and trying to get into the playoffs in 2023.
One of the biggest questions the Rockets have is the development of Garuba. A future core of Ivey/Green/Garuba/Sengun could be ridiculous. So long as Garuba develops into a true defensive stalwart. I still think Jabari Smith makes the most sense for the team right now followed by Holmgren and now Ivey. No matter which direction they go, they'll need to get a 3D player in free agency or through a trade. Either at the 4 spot or at the 3 spot. If they go with Smith then it'd be Schroeder/Green/?????/Jabari/Sengun. I prefer this a little bit just because I like how Schroeder runs the team and he can put people in the positions they need to be in. I don't think Tate will be the answer at the 3. If the Rockets miss out on the Top 4 entirely, then you draft Griffin and he takes Tate's spot. Then it'd be Schroeder/Green/Griffin/?????/Sengun. Rockets seriously can't lose this draft. So long as they don't go screwing it up by winning more games.
I like Chet a lot he seems to be a hard worker and is smart. team player, not selfish etc etc. I think my personal final rankings though are starting to finalize and it is 1. Jabari Smith 2. Ivey 3. Chet 4. Banchero With the Rockets likely getting a decent pick next year as well and Green/Sengun/Christopher(hopefully Garuba as well) along with sooo much cap space the team's future looks like it is safely materializing. Ivey and Jabari look very safe along with lots of positives. You may never get an opportunity to add a guard as dynamic as Ivey with Green. Although next year there are 3 point guards in the top of the 7-8 players i dont know much about them though. So if you were to get Jabari you could add hopefully a decent guard to a Green/Sengun & Jabari or Banchero lineup. If Ivey or Banchero or Jabari looks good this next season if i were a free agent I would think very hard about getting in on that in 2023 offseason. who knows though.
I would take Ivey over Banchero at 3. He's a nice consolation prize if you lose out on Smith and Holmgren. You can't teach is athleticism. He's what you want in a PG.
After seeing the video from last night I have moved on personally from KPJ as a player. Christopher could really damn good in a few years though and be the first or second guard off the bench.
In no way shape or form should KPJs presence on the team have any impact on who we draft. Best Player Available Always.
How is he a sleeper when he is consensus top 5? Everybody knows he is gonna be really good nobody's sleeping on him lol.
Ivey is very close to number 3 on my list. Chet is number 1, Jabari is at 2, Banchero is at 3. If Ivey is available with the 4th pick for the Rockets, they should grab him without any hesitation.
The bad defense and poor assist-turnover ratio is what jumps out at me. With his wingspan, he should have been a plus defender at the college level, but he's just plain terrible. He'll only be worse at the NBA level - I'm thinking Harden-at-his-laziest bad. I can't think of a single guard who was a bad defender in college who developed into a decent defender in the NBA, but then again, I'm not an encyclopedia. Can anyone think of such an example. He also doesn't remotely compare to the best combo guards when it comes to assists. As the article states, there really isn't any reason for him to be such a poor distributor other than a lack of PG skills. Again, I think it's doubtful he'll figure it out - he's a scoring guard and that's all he is. We should obviously take the best player available, but Ivey just seems like another scoring guard to add to the pile we already have. Maybe he's marginally better, but only marginally and unless we can make some trades to fill the severe lack of length, I don't think he improves the team at all.
