All of what? All the poor people? No, just the whiners. All the decisions? No, just the bad ones. I didn't know what you were asking.

This is what I noticed every time I drive by low-income areas... GREAT SNEAKERS, CHAINS, RIMS, but still complaining that the "guhvm'nt ain't helpin' enough"... jeez...

I think texxx and I would vote for the same people... if I could vote, anyway... :D

If I recall, there was an extremely long thread about a similar situation like this what seems like ages ago. It couldn't have been later than '99 or 2000, perhaps someone can dig it up. Anyways, there was an article about a young woman who was on welfare and within the article was a picture of her laying in bed and what seemed to be a big screen tv in the background. It caused a huge fuss causing many to point the label of Reagan's "welfare queen." It turned out that there was a caption (which nobody bothered to read) that she was visiting her parents' house.

No doubt that many of the poor misuse what little they do have and do not prioritize their resources. I think it's amusing though that some of you are so quick to illegitimize whatever prized possession any particular poor person might have.

I do agree though that part of the "culture" of poverty sometimes puts priority on unneeded goods. These people have never been taught to "not be poor." That is problematic and I do not know how we as a society can address financial responsibility.
