This is bound to happen at some point. I am just getting the ball rolling. The excuse of our team being young is growing tiresome. Sure you can be a young team and suck at what you are doing but they should be at least attempting to do it. They can be extremely bad at things like cutting lanes, PnR, ect. as long as they are trying to do it. I don't see any attempts or flow at doing a lot of stuff. It is the coaches job to stress to the players on what to do no matter how bad they might be right now at doing it because the best way to get better at something is practice. He is probably telling the players "read and react" instead of making them run set plays to get experience at doing those things. Read and react should not be philosophy of one of the youngest teams in the league. It should be getting reps at plays and making things as less complicated as you can so when it does come time for your read and react philosophy they will have the experience of how to react down as second nature. Broken system and poor coaching.
Yawn. We’ve literally only played 1 regular season game this year. Can we get through a full season first before complaining?
I understand your thoughts giving this time is smart but to much time in the wrong direction is beyond detrimental. Stone has a lot of responsibility with a lot of eyes watching and judging. Silas seems like a more then respectable person, too.
Silas already has 1 full year of coaching the rockets I understand waiting 10 to 20 more games but not for another season before people can complain
A full season??? Before even complaining??? Lol talk about opposite ends of the spectrum. You can tell some things wayyyyyyy earlier than that.
I definitely don't hate him, but in all his games as head coach I don't know if I've seen anything resembling flow or strategy. He seems like a nice guy....? Need more.
Last year I could see a little bit of a 'system' ... this year is a bad version of AAU thus far through preseason and 1 game. Im willing to give him more time because its not like we're expected to do much anyway, but if he's not instructing these guys on how to play the professional game at a high level then Stone needs to find a better teacher.
I have been coaching patience, but it does seem that rookies need more structure not less. The Rockets are unintentionally intentionally tanking, so I don’t see Silas getting fired until next off-season. If the Rockets look more like a team and they start to be competitive towards the end of the year he will be coming back. Right now, it seems he is just letting the kids run the show. You can be a players coach and be successful with vets that know how to play the game, not so much with this much youth that need to be running a structured offense in the half-court.
At least when I called this years preseason redflags nobody questioned me. But I was a troll and got an admin warning when I did it with McHale's last preseason.
U think this is a thread shtting on Silas but in fact its disguised as a criticism of how tilmam is too fking cheap. I wholeheartedly agree if tilman was willing to spend more money we wouldn't have this life coach masquerading as a hc. Small budget = lower tier coach
Stop it. The man paid 3.5 million in Doumbouya’s contract to buy a 2nd round pick. Give him some credit.
Might as well go back to small ball…KPJ, Wood, Tate all regressed because the spacing hasn’t been good with Theis.
I don’t hate him. I’m just trying to understand what kind of offense he’s running. What kind of scheme he has in play? I saw some of the first game and it looked like YMCA pickup ball.
Silas's coaching is similar to that of Brett Brown who was in charge of the team when the Sixers were tanking. Silas will not add anything to the players and the team like him but I don't know if he can stay at the head of the team for as long as Brown does. We've seen a lot of teams tanking before, has anyone seen any team playing basketball so unconsciously? This team is similar to the Sixers in 2016. Their record was 10-72 and Brett Brown was the coach of that team. It looks like I'd be surprised if this team gets more than 10 wins this season if Silas stays with the team until the end...
