Look, I just can't bring myself to show love to a Celtic and a two time... Well you know the rest. 80 & 86 were such bitter sweet seasons.
I'm jealous! I remember when it happened and all the excitement but I honestly do not even remember watching it on TV. I wasn't even in JR High yet.
Yeah, I watched that on TV too. Phi Slama Jama vs Doctors of Dunk. I've never seen a college game with so many high flying dunks. A nice article here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=jamfest83
Watching The Big E and his teammates at Delmar Fieldhouse was my introduction to basketball We'd sit behind the UH bench fifteen feet away from the players.
My dad was at the Astrodome Game of the Century when he was a student at UH. The main thing I recall is being stuck at home with a sitter. We've still got the game program...and in recent years (relatively speaking) have had it autographed by Big E, Guy V, Don Chaney, and a few others. Big E definitely deserves the long-term love on multiple levels.

You guys that actually got to watch "The Game of the Century" make me sick! Actually I'm just jealous because I would love to have been there but I was just too young at the time. Here is a video with some really good video footage and interviews of that game. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9e31mA5clAg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
How is it possible to be 6th in the NBA while averaging 17.1 rebounds per game? That is a shocking statistic.
1. Wilt Chamberlain 21.1 rpg Lakers 2. Nate Thurmond 19.7 rpg Warriors 3. Bill Russell 19.3 rpg Celtics 4. Jerry Lucas 18.4 rpg Royals 5. Wes Unseld 18.2 rpg Bullets
