This entire BBS is a call for the public to comment on the Rockets and other issues. Messages posted here are vigorously screened and frequently deleted if there content is objectionable. That does not mean that Clutch or ClutchFans the BBS endorses all or even most comments posted here that they do not delete. If someone creates the thread Yao Is An Overhyped Stiff or Bush Is A Bumbling Idiot and the moderators do not delete them after screening, this does not constitute agreement. Though there those opinions are- "aired" in the public domain for comment. So let's cut to the chase- This whole little dust up started with the claim that MoveOn compared Bush to Hitler. Do you believe that claim is accurate?
I know this has been rehashed here before, but, here's what Durbin said... He's not comparing American troops to Nazis or Pol Pot, he's decrying the loss of our values. On the list of Hitler comments you posted, yes, some folks from the left have said stupid things and been too cavalier with the analogy. The difference is that the right seizes on these to try and blunt criticism of the President and his administration and often misrepresent things (like Durbin's comments) while ignoring similar stuff from their own side that is of benefit politically. The Kos missive you posted does a good job of explaining why... Like it or not, many people in this country think the process is being perverted, think propaganda and fear are being used to further political power, and think the slide is underway. People don't think Bush is going to murder millions because of some irrational hatred or prejudice, but they are concerned about what is happening to the country and the changing values. When one side doth protest too much, perhaps the rhetoric is closer to the truth than we think.
Actually it started with the claim that MoveOn referenced Bush being like Hitler. That doesn't appear to be inaccurate. Although again this is just a sideshow distract the thread point. Is Tony Blair a war criminal?
If Bush is Hitler, and Blair is Mussolini, then does that make Karl Rove Goebbles? Rumsfled Himmler? This is fun. Let's all try to map the administration onto Nazi Germany.
