Is there anything "family friendly" in South Padre?

Are their beaches nice? Meaning, is it like Galveston or more like Padre? I've never been but would like to go there...

Will do the parking lot, as we'll be in the company rental.

The showers are a nice plus too. Don't really enjoy the grimey feeling after the Gulf water off the Texas coast.

By the way, we'll be in Harlingen, so we won't be there at the beach everyday... maybe about 3 days out of 5.
