    Keenan Ivory Wayans
    David Alan Grier
    Kim Coles
    Tommy Davidson
    Damon Wayans

Monty Python is definitely up there. Among Brit humor I would also say the Black Adder crew of Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Tony Robinson, Stephen Fry and Miranda Richardson.

Also remembering the great Carl Reiner who teamed up with Mel Brooks.

Do yall remember Monty Python being on American tvs? Growing up I only know like the Benny Hill stuff cause that **** was always on tv. I found out about Monty Python when blockbuster video promoted it, lol. Like I'm curious, what was mainstreamed at the time when it comes to brit humor? I know PBS was like the main hub for british stuff back then.

The series first started showing on PBS in the fall of 1974. I became a fan when I saw their film that was made up of reshot bits from Python’s first couple of seasons, “And Now for Something Completely Different!” I saw it in 1971 in Amsterdam and thought I would die laughing. Seriously!

Ah that make sense. I was an 80s baby. Thank you. Your thoughts on benny hill? Do you think it still hold up? I rewatch some episodes and it's kinda corny lol. The babes are hot but that's it.

Black Adder is almost the opposite humor of Mr. Bean. Mr Bean is all about physical humor, I mean he doesn't even talk. Black Adder is almost all about witty word play. Rowan Atkinson is great but so Hugh Laurie, better known to US audiences as Dr. House.

Not a big fan, honestly. Benny's humor probably resonates in the UK, but not over here. Python's humor resonates anywhere and everywhere, in my humble opinion. ;-)

Let's not BS around here. If you didn't have cable in the 80's, the main draw of Benny Hill was for the split second of tit shot at the end of most episodes.

Well sure, not that I watched very many episodes. However, I did have cable in the '80's. We moved to Austin from Houston in June of 1980. I mentioned somewhere around here, probably in D&D while responding to an "assault" on CNN, that I have watched the Cable News Network since it's inception. It began in June of 1980. Austin, to my astonishment and delight, had cable! Heck, we had HBO and Showtime! Boobs in color! In 1980! Turns out that Austin, and being the state capital may have had something to do with it, was tricked out with cable during the early 1960's.

At that moment Houston, my hometown, seemed so backward. The city has striven mightily since then to catch up to Austin and I'm sure it has, not that "cable" is that important, unless we're talking about the fiber optic cable I have from Google Fiber. Super fast! Tiny DVR's, and each one is a WiFi "hot spot." Needless to say, I no longer miss being able to make a call on a payphone for a dime. ;-)
