is it a good idea to allow concealed handguns in bars?

It seemed to work well in the Old West...

 

Liquor and guns? What could possibly go wrong?

 

At that point then why have a law at all since people will smuggle their guns in anyway?

My understanding of the law is that if the bar owner spots, or suspects, a concealed weapon he can't tell the patron to leave because of the gun.
That may be mistaken but otherwise I'm not sure why have a law that allows concealed weapons in bar.

 

That is false. If someone can see the gun, even if it is legal to carry there, you cannot have it visible.

 

If the law only applies to guns that cannot be detected what is the poitn of the law? How do you ban something you aren't even aware of?

 

this is kinda the point. The only people who care are the ones who follow the law. Many people will not carry a gun where it is illegal to do so, that is how you ban it.

The same dumb situation came into play during the assault weapons ban. I had 3 or 4 rifles where certain parts were only allowed on certain recievers even though the only difference was the year the reciever was made.
