Is there any place this clown won't insert himself into? Seriously what kind of a God complex does this guy have? How about you work to get the government working before you choose to rename the NFL team in town. Priorities?

President Obama said he would consider changing the name of the Washington Redskins because it offends Native Americans.
"If I were the owner of the team and I knew that the name of my team, even if they've had a storied history, that was offending a sizable group of people, I'd think about changing it," Obama said in an interview with the Associated Press published Saturday.

The president became the latest to weigh in on the controversy surrounding the name of Washington's football franchise. Team owner Daniel Snyder has said he will not change the team's name, but a growing number of news organizations have decided to no longer use it in stories.
Obama said he did not think the team meant offense by the name, which has been with the franchise since it was in Boston in 1933. The team moved to Washington in 1937 and has become among the top franchises in terms of revenue in the National Football League.

He may also eat lunch and catch some football today. Thanks, Obama.

Yeah, because he should spend 24 hours per day telling Boyhowdyner to take a vote to the floor.

new development: much like in the Trayvon Martin incident, when Obama foolishly spoke prior to collecting facts, it appears he's done it again. The Redskins fired back at Obama today, saying that a poll of Native Americans support the Redskins name by a 9:1 margin, and the team name is an honor to Native Americans, not an insult.

Speaking of speaking prior to collecting facts, odd that you would rely on one poll taken 9 years ago when there are other polls that show completely different results.

The polling on this topic has been a complete failure, with polls showing upwards of 80% offended and not-offended, depending on the poll.

seems like lazy assumptions were made leading to the assessment that President Obama "chose to insert himself" into the debate.

here's the recap from the AP interview as linked in the article.
    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...ME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-10-05-10-01-08

the Redskins portion from the interview is listed as the very last item under "on other points"

the Washington Post runs with the headline as a story from the local/sports/politics angle.

but that 2004 poll is such a game changing development.

What gets lost on many of the posters here is the media's control of their viewers minds and opinions. This is simply a piece to the puzzle.

The media's power is unbelievable, and it should not be used to further their own agendas.

How sad. A while back it was a dictator's kid posting on Facebook that required an air strike and now this Redskins nonsense. Bigtexxx troll effectiveness has gone into the dumpster.

This just goes to show how rabid the right has become. Their hate is so large that they take Obama's remarks about a football team as some sort of new means to attack him. They are more concerned about this crap than the fact our country is about to default and be economically wounded.

    This is how America dies.

But Eddie, I support our President, make well over 6 figures, take care of my family, and I know football. Explain how this is possible?

Why are white people offended for Native Americans? I have a Native American friend who loves the name. He says the name was created by Native Americans to refer to themselves. White people have gone too far with this "let's not offend anyone" bull sh--.

    bwahaha!

bigtexxx has had his thread endorsed and derailed by the backslapping cadre who speak on behalf of what drives Obama voters and what offends white people.

Really, because when asked, he said he'd -consider- it, if he were the owner, and if he knew that it was offensive to a large group of people.... this makes you say he has a God complex?

It truly must get tiring for you... all this outrage. It does for others.

The Redskins name is not "honoring" Native Americans. You have to understand the history of the team before you assert that there's nothing racist about it. Team founder George Preston Marshall was an ardent segregationist and positioned the team as the team of the South (it was, at that time, the southern-most NFL team).
